Meet Julia Egbebike-Wilson of The Wilson Workshop LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Egbebike-Wilson.

Hi Julia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a heart for helping students discover confidence in their own abilities. I started my career as a learning specialist working with middle schoolers who struggled with organization, writing, and executive function skills. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with students who have learning differences, especially dyslexia, and it’s shaped so much of my approach to teaching. I’ve learned that when students feel understood and supported, their entire relationship with learning transforms.
That’s what inspired my husband, Christian, and me to create The Wilson Workshop. It started small, with a few tutoring clients and a shared dream to make learning more personal, accessible, and empowering for all types of learners. We both wanted to build something that would help students feel seen, supported, and capable, no matter their background or learning style. Today, our biggest area of growth has been in SSAT preparation, particularly for students with learning differences who need strategies that work for the way they learn. Helping those students build confidence, master the material, and walk into their tests feeling capable has been one of the most rewarding parts of this work.

Now, The Wilson Workshop offers academic coaching, test prep, and enrichment programs that focus on helping students not only improve their skills but also believe in themselves. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to see it grow into a space that reflects both my passion for education and my commitment to making learning equitable for every student.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve struggled with imposter syndrome, questioning whether I was ready to build something of my own or if people would take it seriously. Over time, I’ve learned to shift my focus from perfection to purpose. Seeing my students grow, especially those who doubt themselves, reminds me why I started.

I try to model for them what I’m still learning myself: confidence doesn’t come first, it grows when you take the step anyway. Building The Wilson Workshop has been about believing in my own potential while helping my students believe in theirs.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Wilson Workshop is all about helping students feel capable and confident in how they learn. While we specialize in SSAT preparation for students with learning differences, we work with all types of learners — from those who need extra support to those who are ready for an extra challenge. We also offer executive function coaching, academic support, college readiness, and mentorship.

What makes us different is our focus on the whole student. We teach strategies that build confidence, independence, and self-awareness — skills that last far beyond the classroom. Whether a student has dyslexia, ADHD, or simply needs more structure and encouragement, we meet them where they are and help them grow.

I’m most proud that families describe The Wilson Workshop as encouraging, personal, and transformative. It’s not just about academics; it’s about helping students see what they’re truly capable of.

What does success mean to you?
I define success by impact, not numbers. For me, it’s seeing a student who once doubted themselves start to believe they’re capable, whether that’s improving their test scores, feeling more organized, or just walking into class with confidence. Success is also about balance: being able to grow a business I love while staying grounded in why I started. If what I’m doing helps even one student see their potential more clearly, that feels like success to me.
