Meet June Mugo

Today we’d like to introduce you to June Mugo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us June. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I’ve always had a gift of telling stories, and I was also a photographer. Pictures tell a thousand words, but I soon learned I could tell a deeper story through motion picture. Having seen so much growing up and having a genuine passion for hearing people’s life experiences, I grew to love visual storytelling. I direct/write movies, music videos, even still photography. Being a visionary, a storyteller, and a creative is who I am.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Granted, I’m not supposed to be where I am. The path to success has always seemed more than I can afford. My life could have taken many different paths but success seemed like the best one even with a side of struggles. The learning process has been the most difficult but also the best part.

Everything I know now has been self-taught or reaching out for advice, which has been a little challenging, but I am grateful for all the resources I have been able to utilize. I shot my first movie when I entered grad school and working full-time. Having to juggle all of that at one time was a challenge – it still is. With every obstacle, there’s a way around it, and my passion and love for creating have been the one leading me around the obstacles.

We’d love to hear more about the organization.
Vibes by June is an organization that focuses on visual storytelling. Vibes by June specializes in video, picture, and story building. As the founder, I am most proud of the support Vibes by June continues to get, when people watch my work, they catch a genuine vibe, they understand the story, and they soon become a part of it. That is what sets us apart from others. It is deeper than just watching a video or movie; it’s becoming apart of the story, feeling the energy of the story. I am an advocate for education, so I use this platform to educate the world on different social problems and the power of visual storytelling.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We live in a time where people measure their success by comparing their experience to someone else, especially through social media. Success, to me, is seeking inner peace through one’s purpose and greatness towards a goal. One thing about success is it never ends when you reach one goal. Another one begins to rise. The stakes get larger. My criteria is to be further than the year before or even better than yesterday.
