Meet Jwaundace` Candece of StuntPOC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jwaundace` Candece.

Jwaundace`, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Los Angeles in early 2000 to pursue a career in Acting. Soon, I auditioned with thousands of girls to become one of the 30 members of WOW (Women of Wrestling). I was a part of a Tag Team “Caged Heat”. My wrestling name was Delta Lotta Pain. We became Tag Team Champions in 2001 and became one of the most popular female wrestlers in the history of wrestling. In 2002, I was approached to do stunts for Queen Latifah in “Bringing Down the House”. The fight scene from that movie was nominated foe 2003 MTV Movie Awards for “Best Fight”. I became her permanent stunt double and have performed stunts for her in most of her movies since. I have performed stunts for some top actresses including Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Mo’Nique, Tyra Banks, Hayley Marie Norman and stunt driving for Regina King in (HBOs “Watchmen”) and Gabrielle Union in (BETs “Being Mary Jane”) and more stunt driving in various TV and Film project. Her specialty skills include her fighting, fire burns and stunt driving (crashes and high-speed chases).

Parallel to her career as a stunt woman she is also an actor. Her breakout movie role was playing the ‘That’s What You get’ character “JaQuandae” in 20th Century Fox’s “Let’s Be Cops” and “Barbershop 3” blockbuster franchise. She had a recurring role in ABC’s “Resurrection” as Mrs. Camille Thompson – mother to Omar Epps’ chararcter. She has made recognizable many Film and TV appearances such as Netflix’s “Naked” and “Insatiable”. NBC’s “Good Girls” and DC’s “Doom Patrol”. She will make guest appearances in the upcoming Starz’s “P-Valley” and Universal’s upcoming film “Half Brothers”.

The most groundbreaking innovation she has created for the stunt community is StuntPOC – Stunt Performers of Color. It is a website database that lists qualified ethnic stunt performers and stunt coordinators throughout the United States and Canada. With the growing number of diverse actors in film and television, StuntPOC is a gateway to find talent to match the actors to be their stunt double. It also lists qualified ethnic stunt coordinators that some producers and directors may request to coordinate their. Visit www.stuntpoc.com

Has it been a smooth road?
At first launching StuntPOC had its typical feedback but after its positive social media posts and publicity, it has become the “go to” website when looking for ethnic stunt performers.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with StuntPOC – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
StuntPOC is the First and Only website listing ethnic stunt performers and stunt coordinators of color throughout the United States and Canada. I am most proud of creating a database that is interactive and easily accessible to the general public. What sets StuntPOC apart is that we are the ONLY website out there of its kind. Members pay an annual or monthly fee (depending on their membership package) to be listed on our database and promoted on social media and on Stunt Contact.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I moved back to Atlanta from Los Angeles in 2010 to birth and raise my son. I am a single mom and what I like, or have always liked, about ATL is its vast diversity in food, culture and people, the arts and music festivals, the beautiful green trees, scenery and its affordability. What I like least is — dating life. I haven’t been so lucky but I am hopeful. LOL
