Hi Kadedra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Crazy story but initially, makeup was not my thing. I remember vividly in my teenage years my mum would constantly beg me to “put on some powder to cut the shine” before heading out. Of course not because she didn’t think I was beautiful the way I was but she had a love for dressing up and makeup. Nevertheless, regardless of how much she begged or asked me to, I would always say “I don’t want any” because I hated it.
All the while, little did I know I was skilled in that area. I only realized this later on when my sister would ask me to help her with her makeup when getting ready. It then grew on me, and I started wearing it and practicing different looks. Funny right?
Once I realized that this is something I can see myself doing, even if it was a side hustle, I took a class to be certified. After my certification, I didn’t feel like I was good enough to take on clients, so I would do my family member’s and friends’ makeup for free when they had outings/engagements. I then hit a rough patch financially and this forced me to step out of my comfort zone and start the business. This is how Beautified Secrets Studio was birthed.
It wasn’t an easy journey and as you can imagine, the industry is “saturated”, as some would say. However, with the help of God and the most amazing support system ever, I was able to push through and eventually grew confidence and saw the worth in my craft.
Today, I’m in business for five years, established for seven, and located in the beautiful island of Bridgetown Barbados, West Indies. Not only am I a certified Makeup Artist, I am also a cosmetologist and entrepreneur. At Beautified Secrets Studio, we currently specialize in soft/sultry glams, bold glams, makeup training, and hair braiding. We cater to all people and most events, such as weddings, birthdays, engagements/outings, just to name a few.
I never expected this would be my path, but this is clearly a part of my purpose and I totally love it here! My number one goal is for my clients and students to enjoy their experience and to leave feeling completely refreshed and revitalized whenever they sit in my chair. Additionally, my focus is to provide the most astounding service and ensure every client gets the best consideration.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth one but a teachable and enjoyable experience.
I’d say two of the biggest struggles along the way would’ve been acknowledging my worth and having my value and what I charge match and comparing my work to others.

I am the CEO and Founder of Beautified Secrets Studio located in the beautiful island of Bridgetown Barbados, West Indies. I am a certified Makeup Artist, Cosmetologist, and Entrepreneur. At Beautified Secrets Studio, we currently specialize in soft/sultry glams, bold glams, makeup training, and hair braiding. We cater to all people and most events, such as weddings, birthdays, engagements/outings, just to name a few.
I am most proud of my persistence regardless of the many obstacles and challenges I’ve faced. On this journey, those things have kept me on my feet and made me fall further in love with my craft.
I truly believe my astonishing level of service sets me apart from others. It’s just something you have to experience.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
One thing I’d say that truly stood out to me overall I’ve learnt is never take anything for granted. Our business(es) may be in great shape now, but as COVID painfully illustrated, everything can change quickly.
