Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamryn Addison.
Kamryn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I originally started PoetiK Prayers back in 2016 as a twitter account. I would post all my original work weekly. Ever since I was little, I had the gift of creative expression, specifically with writing poetry. It became an outlet for the good and bad times in my life. The word “PoetiK” was the signature I used on all of my poetry, with the K representing my name’s first letter. I added “prayers,” as I grew closer to Christ. My faith journey has transformed me in many ways, so I make sure to dedicate my gifts or accomplishments to God because He gave them to me. The motivation of my friends and mentors helped turn my work into a ministry, and that’s how the blog came about.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road most definitely has its ups and downs. Alongside running a ministry, I am also a full-time student and an upcoming entrepreneur. It takes lots of strength to balance everything while maintaining spiritual, emotional, and mental stability. Once I decided to answer God’s calling rather than listen to the world’s voices, I lost many friends and opportunities. However, I gained more than I lost. Some days are better than others, and I can only give Christ credit for carrying me this far.
Please tell us about PoetiK Prayers.
PoetiK Prayers is a creative ministry inspiring women to embrace Christ through poetry and prayer. Throughout the week, I post encouraging messages and scriptures to uplift my sisters who want to remain steadfast in their Christian faith. On Fridays, I publish new blog posts that address specific topics such as faith, purity, prayer, love, and purpose. In the upcoming weeks, I will also host prayer nights to give my sisters a safe space to express their prayer requests. I believe in the power of intercession and coming together as a community on behalf of one another. I am most proud of how much my ministry has motivated women to be their best selves. I have witnessed so many changes and powerful testimonies.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I wouldn’t have done anything differently. I think the mistakes made along the road were necessary for getting me to this point. All things worked together for my good and my growth as a woman and a believer.
