Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Cannon.
Karen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Prior to real estate, I worked for a large technology firm managing the accounts of Fortune 500 companies such as Coke, Delta, UPS and others. I learned quickly how to communicate with executives and rise to the challenges of this fast-paced, evolving field, setting a standard of excellence for my clients and providing top value.
During this time, my husband, Anderson was working as an entrepreneur renovating and selling homes. I decided to get my license and help him in 2004. We developed a wide range of valuable skills and knowledge in the real estate industry. While selling our investment properties, I began to list and sell neighbor’s homes.
We quickly realized that we could provide great value and excellent results to the people we worked with, in addition to making the process more enjoyable and providing an overall better experience. We combined my sales and marketing skill set with his entrepreneurial and building experience to form Karen Cannon Realtors. Our business is firmly rooted in the communities we serve and we’ve grown to be who we are today from word of mouth and the client referrals of those we’ve helped over the years to have an excellent experience with top results.
Has it been a smooth road?
There are always risks that come with starting a business, especially in real estate where the market can fluctuate. We opened the doors of Karen Cannon Realtors in 2008, during the time of the market crash. This was no easy obstacle being that we were a new business. However, we worked hard and continued to focus on our clients and even in a down market, we continued to grow our business year after year. Still thriving, we are the top local team in Dunwoody and Sandy Springs.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We represent buyers and sellers, first-time buyers, the luxury market, and relocation clients. We specialize in Dunwoody and Sandy Springs, as well as the communities in North Metro Atlanta.
In three words, we describe ourselves as “independent, local and connected.” We know our market inside and out, everything from schools and commute times, to little league teams and the best parks and green space.
We live, work and play in the neighborhoods we serve. Our local connections have allowed us to connect buyers and sellers better than anyone else. Last year we sold over a hundred homes, 10% were sold prior to listing.
We have a full support staff that includes a marketing team, listing and closing coordination, inspection expertise and office administration. This allows our agents to focus on their clients, give great customer service and make the buying and selling process exceptional. In addition, we go above and beyond with a number of pre-listing services that help our homes sell quicker and for top dollar. We also use the latest technology to show our homes, with 3D virtual tours and drone photography and video.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The Dunwoody and Sandy Springs area has all the comfort of living in a quiet family friendly community, with great recreational areas and lots of Southern charm. We also have all the perks of city life right at our fingertips! We get the best of both worlds.
I look forward to watching the community continue to develop and further in its variety of shops, dining and activities. I would love to see more shops and restaurants added in the Dunwoody Village area, as well as new venues that could enhance our music and arts scene.
