Meet Karen Krieger of Pets and Peeps Personal Assistant Services in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Krieger.

Karen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always loved animals, I was bringing “orphans” home as early as I can remember; cats, dogs, mice, birds, and squirrels. At one point, I had over 5 pets in my house. My Mother was refusing to take any additional strays into the house, that didn’t stop me.

As an adult, I was never without a pet by my side which was always my “happy place”.

In 2012 I started researching the Pet Services industry, at that time I was focused on the concept of a Pet Taxi Business, but I soon discovered it was way bigger than that. Today, it is a 5.2 billion dollars’ industry! I thought, wow, I can live expressing my passion and make a living —“I’m going to leave the corporate world and recreate myself as a Pet and Peeps Service Provider”, Today we have 7 care takers in the company and always looking for people who share the passion to join us.

The Peeps (people) side of the business is equally rewarding. As a single Mother, I know it takes a village to raise children and that’s where I come in. I provide families with the support they need to do all the things it takes to raise a family, to develop a professional life and provide “extra time” to spend doing the things that family’s like to do together. That’s what Pets and Peeps Professional Assistant Services is all about!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This has been a totally different experience from the first Corporate Company I started. Has it been a smooth road? not always, but it wasn’t from lack of business, it was and still is learning how to manage the incredible growth in such a short period of time. Learning to attract the right mix of people to join the business. How do I manage all of this by myself that is the biggest challenge.

The physical part of the business is not for sissies either, you must be in shape to walk 22,000 steps in one day and then smile when it’s time to join the peeps that require as much, if not more attention and care.

Pets and Peeps Personal Assistant Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Pets and Peeps Personal Assistant Services provides pet walking, pet day and overnight care in my home and in the client’s home. We also transport pets to doctor’s appointments, groomers etc.

We specialize in providing the level of care, love and attention to our visiting pets that the owners give to their pets and expect from a care taker. My staff and I treat every pet as if they were our own. I am proud of the fact that this is almost 100 % referral business and that we currently have more than 45 clients which we acquired in less than a year.

What sets us apart is that we are super focused on impeccable service and strive to make our client’s life more manageable so they can do the things they love to do: travel, spend time with family and friends, take business trips, explore things they have always wanted to explore but never could because of the guilt and worry of leaving their loved pet behind…we make it easy for them because they know they can trust Pets and Peeps to take the best care of their pet.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success can be defined by the number of repeat clients we have and their positive feedback/referrals we receive which is posted on my website, Facebook and on our neighborhood social site.

My goal is to bring joy and happiness to pet lovers/clients by providing superior care and giving them the confidence they need to have in Pets and Peeps to care for their “fur babies”.

My marker for success is when I can run the business with the level of attention it requires to support numerous care takers and enable them to live out their passion and make a living doing so.

My long-term goal is to acquire a few acres of land to develop a facility with a “home environment, a second home for my guests. I would also like to add training and behavioral programs as well as become a certified Canine Behaviorist.

Pricing:

  • I price out each individual request, there are so many factors that go into the care provided that there is no “standard” pricing. Dog walking can range from $17.00 – 25.00 per 30 minute walk. Overnight can range from $50.00 – $70.00 per night which includes two 30 minute walks, feeding –all inclusive.
