Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Beebe.
Kari, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started doing bookkeeping as part of my office management job when my girls were in preschool. As they got older and I wanted to work more out of my home, I discovered that I LOVED the bookkeeping and nothing else about office management. So I focused on that type of task and discovered the cloud version of QuickBooks and that was when the lightbulb turned on that I could do this for multiple clients and have my own business and set me own schedule.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning your own business is a journey. The reality is there will be some hard knocks along the way, but those are the most valuable ones to learn from. I’ve been doing this for over a decade and I learn, discover or uncover something related to my business at least weekly, if not daily. One of the BIGGEST challenges is finding your ideal client. Once you lock in on that things do go better, but rarely is it smooth as glass.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a ‘helper’ by nature. People know to call me if they need a ride to the doctor or help with a project. My bookkeeping and payroll company allows me to be able to help small business owners in several ways. Managing the day-to-day transactions lets the owner focus on the business. To sum it up, I love it when my clients tell me I save them time while allowing them to sleep at night knowing everything is current and accurate.
My special focus is on small/solo law firms. I have training in how to document the special account attorneys have to maintain that holds their client retainers. Many of my bookkeeping peers do not have this training or specialty.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Technology can be a huge ally. You can’t stick your head in the sand and plod along like you used to. Technology leads to efficiency, and efficiency leads to more open opportunities.
