Today we’d like to introduce you to Kash Howard.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I established my boutique in November 2007 in the heart of downtown Atlanta historic area old Fourth Ward. At the time it was a thriving area for fashion boutique shopping! My credentials have many layers; I have modeled professionally landed major international/national print campaigns. Once landed a huge Coco Cola contract and appeared on Coke billboards.
In addition to beer brand Cristal beer, national Zaxbys commercials, Capital One commercial, Verizon Wireless commercial… Just to name a few. While achieving a successful modeling/acting career, I veered off into the land of publication magazine ownership along with my partner at the time, Key Anthony Odom/ AKA – GripI. In 2006, Together he and I accomplished producing a national magazine available in all major cities. We had secured a major distribution deal that allowed us to take a vision and turned it into an entertainment, fashion, lifestyle Bible. In the beginning, we wore many hats we had a large staff oddly enough, needless to say, that didn’t omit the fact we all wore multiple hats. With a degree in journalism communication, I figured this can’t be that difficult right? I was the advertising director, fashion editor as well. I made sure I was accomplishing expectations in each lane. My wardrobe styling kicked into play doing this journey.
One of our rules we stuck to for our publication was, on every covers always had to be a Major artist. Ranging from an A list singer or A-list actor. The other part of this union was we insisted on a professional photo shoot done by us no stocked images.. at the time this was more effective with building with the artist and securing a more tangible relationship. Our covers ranged from, Idris Llba, Tyrese, The Game, Ice Cube, Trick Daddy, Young Jezzy, List goes on. The magazine (Grip) ran an accomplished course until my partner had a run in with the law in 2007 and things derailed. The expenses a month range from $22-$31 thousand dollars .. we liquidated the magazine… 2007 wasn’t all bad one door closed another opened my boutique Seven74.
My original concept was to open an exclusive accessory & handbag boutique because it had never been done; well at least not on the level I had plans with my boutique. Quality, one of a kind pieces all housed under one roof.. eventually I merged into clothing as well. My boutique launched in downtown Atlanta. We stayed there for six years, then we relocated to central downtown inside of, The Mall at PeachtreeCenter for three years. Subsequently, we migrated to north Buckhead and we have been here in Buckhead this makes year four.. so all in all 12 approaching 13 years a boutique owner.
Moreover I’m also extremely busy with my wardrobe styling clients and jobs.. styling artist like Grammy-winning LeAndria Johnson, Koryn Hawthrone, Kissielee, Jas, Reggie Rouse Among others. Lots of corporate styling as well. I was the lead wardrobe stylist for national hair campaigns such as Fat Hair national commercial, Bigen, Strength of Nature brands. While I’m very thankful, I stay for the most part as they say, “booked and busy,” I have that one person who makes it all worth it. I’m also a proud mom to a successful young music producer. I’m so proud of my son! He’s my light at the end of the tunnel for sure. There’s so much more I pray my God and the universe opens up for me ahead. I’m thankful for my journey thus far as I am my own competition. I trust my process and will continue to grow and learn more lessons and take more calculated risks along the way…
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not always been a smooth road; this is the game of life and there are no smooth roads… My boutique faced many challenges; we originally relocated from our Edgewood location because the city of Atlanta deemed it necessary to Build rail tracks for a trolley they were bringing to the city. Which caused massive construction which led to no parking for my customer’s horrible debris, annoying sounds yet rent still had to be paid With all the new dynamics we detached from my first born and had to relocate to keep her Alive… We remained at the mall at PeachtreeCenter for three years until all of the corporate business left and career college moved in. Well, most of the students, of course, had no money so we had to go where it made more sense. Buckhead it was and still is now. We are blessed to have loyal customers who travel on this journey with us.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I totally feel like our city the city of Atlanta is a place you can come and open up a boutique. I feel there is a lack of physical locations for boutiques now it’s more online boutiques and there’s more disappointment in the end because you can’t touch and feel and try on and I believe that Atlanta is a place for that a place that could cultivate the boutique arena. Atlanta can bring Boutique shopping back to life.
