Meet Katelynn Newton of KNewton Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelynn Newton.

Katelynn Newton

Hi Katelynn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, I started my wedding planning business in the fall of 2020. It came about through planning my own wedding. My husband, Jonathan, and I got married in June of 2020. I fell in love with the whole process and found it really easy. I kept thinking that so many people complained about the planning side of their wedding, so I was like, “hey, maybe I can do this for others.” I prayed about it and basically said, “Lord, if this is something I should do then you will bless it.” I created a website and a social media and went from there. I helped a friend with her wedding for free to gain experience and just trusted that God would provide the right clients for me. So over the next year as I worked two part-time jobs I booked multiple clients and my business grew fast. I began working full-time at a floral shop the next year and as my business continued to grow I fell in love with creating bouquets for my brides and others. God blessed me beyond belief and as I entered 2023 I turned my business into an LLC and began wedding planning and floral design full-time on my own. This year has been a crazy ride, but I am so glad I took a step in faith with Jesus being my guide. He continues to show me new things, and I am excited to see where my business goes.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The overall road has been fairly smooth. I have had a few struggles with jobs and such leading up to going full-time into my business but God has been in control the whole time. I believe it is only by his strength and leadership that I have had such a smooth time transitioning into running my own business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about KNewton Weddings?
I offer wedding planning and coordination along with floral design. I do these services individually and can also combine planning and floral design.

I specialize in wedding floral design and plan to pursue that over coordinating in the coming years. I absolutely love working with flowers and seeing the joy they bring to brides on their wedding day. Walking into the room where the bride is getting ready and seeing her eyes light up when she sees her dream bouquet makes my heart so full.

I wish I could convey the joy and love I have for each of my couples. Every time I sit down and help them sort through the details of their wedding we become friends. I have a few ‘clients’ that I still keep in contact with and we plan to hang out in the future. Having a real relationship with each of my clients really allows me to become a part of their wedding day and ensure it is perfect for them.

Though, no matter how hard I try I know none of this would have been possible without Jesus being my support and guide. He leads me every day through the hard times and the good times. I pray for each of my couples. That their marriage would be blessed and they would serve each other and God with their whole hearts.

“May His favor be upon you and a thousand generations.
And your family and your children and their children, and their children.
May His presence go before you and behind you and beside you.
All around you and within you. He is with you.
In the morning, in the evening, in your coming, and your going.
In your weeping, and rejoicing, he is for you, He is for you.”
– The Blessing – Kari Jobe

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I don’t have anything surprising to share, lol. I am an honest and clear person. Most people who know me know everything about me. I think the only thing that some might not know is I am a one-woman show. I run everything to do with my business besides bookkeeping. I update my website, run social media, answer all emails/inquiries, run meetings with potential clients and current clients, create estimates, send mood boards, order flowers, and more. It feels like it never ends but I am so blessed to be busy so I’m not complaining.
