Today we’d like to introduce you to Katerina Stobert
Hi Katerina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been the creative one in my family, but it took me many years to finally embrace my true passion. One day, a friend who knew about my love for crafting and DIY projects asked if I could organize an art class. So, I decided to host one in my backyard on a sunny day, inviting a few people to join in. That was the start of my journey, and from there, my workshops took off. People started reaching out, asking me to lead art masterclasses for events like birthday parties.
What sets me apart is my unique approach: I teach polymer clay workshops for all ages, where we create everything from bracelets and magnets to jewelry dishes and miniatures. Over time, I expanded my offerings to include candle making, painting, natural perfumes using essential oils, and even scrubbie-making!
I’ve also had the honor of showcasing my work at art shows and galleries, including my charcoal figure drawings and one-of-a-kind scrapbooking greeting cards. If you don’t find me at an art show, just reach out directly – I’d love to share my work with you!
The journey didn’t stop there. I landed a job as a professor teaching Contemporary Art at a university, which is still mind-blowing to me! Now, I also offer custom designs on a variety of items, including T-shirts, caps, tote bags, glassware, notebooks, mugs – you name it. Just tell me where you want to apply your design, and I’ll probably say, “Easy peasy!”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d say one of the biggest challenges in the art world is maintaining consistency. As creative souls, we thrive on good sleep, healthy food, and a positive mood—all of which help welcome the muse and inspiration into our lives. But staying motivated and constantly inspired to create can be tough, especially in an industry that doesn’t always offer stability. There are times when the creative spark dims, and it’s easy to feel discouraged. But finding the balance between personal well-being and artistic flow is key to pushing through those moments and staying true to the passion.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I feel like I’ve touched on a lot of this already, but to summarize: I’m all about sharing my passion for art with the world! Through teaching, I offer my skills and knowledge to inspire others, whether it’s in my workshops or one-on-one classes. I also love creating custom designs and unique greeting cards, which make the perfect personalized gifts for your loved ones.
What I’m most proud of, though, is the fact that people genuinely enjoy my workshops, and my students rave about my classes. Honestly, I didn’t know I had that in me, but seeing how much my work resonates with others is incredibly fulfilling. It’s one of the things that truly sets me apart—creating not just art, but a memorable experience for those who join me.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to stop chasing perfection and instead appreciate each piece of work I create. There were times I sold art pieces I didn’t think would resonate, and to my surprise, they did! I’ve also learned that when I don’t over-plan, my classes feel more organic, effortless, and light. It’s amazing how much people’s energy and inspiration can inspire me in return. I am beyond grateful for every single person who has supported my artistic journey in any way—whether through attending a class, purchasing my work, or simply encouraging me along the way.
