Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Randle.
Kay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Kay’s Hair Extensions was born when I was in college on my journey of entrepreneurship. My father has had a business majority of my life, so having a successful business just felt right.
I have always been an advocate of women changing up their looks and appearance, especially hair! I grew up in a house where we were not allowed to have perms/relaxers, we had to be natural. But that caused me to experience heat damage really bad because I wanted to straighten my hair all the time! This is how I got into hair extensions. I wanted to rock my different hair styles, but I also wanted to work on protecting my natural hair and bringing it back to life.
I knew WHY I started the business but I wasn’t giving it 100%. I realized that if I wanted it to work, I had to work for it. I started applying myself and took up some marketing and content branding courses. In addition, I took some free business classes that I came across. In this, I was able to get clear on who it was I wanted to reach plus re-evaluate my business to ensure that the message I am pushing, is being reflected in my brand.
I’m not saying I’m done growing and learning as an entrepreneur, but looking at today compared to where I started … I’m blessed to say Kay’s Hair Extensions has come far.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. My biggest challenge is trying to do everything! By this, I mean keeping up with day to day tasks, keeping up with a business, and creating time for my personal/social life… it can get overwhelming.

My fiancé is a very important key player in my success because he is always there to hear the ups and downs of it all. He is also very very supportive, and always open to providing feedback on how I’m handling things professionally.
My close family and friends play a major role because no matter what, they have always supported my vision.
My clients have played a major role in the success of my business, no doubt. They are the reasons I get up and get to it every day.
