Meet Kayla Dieppa of Kayla D & Company in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Dieppa.

Kayla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Atlanta ten years ago. With nothing but a backpack and my last paycheck of 112.00. It was a struggle getting started. I have always felt, the school was just not a “fit” for me. I had many small, very small businesses in sales. I sold make-up and hair. Eventually when I was pregnant with my youngest son and scrolling through Groupon. I saw Better Home & Garden Metro Atlanta was holding a real estate course. I knew I loved sales and I loved people. So, in 2014 I took the course. Pregnant and with a young toddler at home. I failed the school required exam twice. The third time was the charm. I passed! I moved on to pass the state exam shortly after. Now, what? My first year was horrible. I probably sold six homes in total. Once I understood that relationships are the true foundation of this business. I took off running. In my second year in real estate, I grossed a little over 5.1 million in sales. I have been soaring ever since. I decided to get my brokers license last February of 2019. I then continued to start my company Kayla D & Company under the Palmerhouse Properties & Associates umbrella. We are on track to complete 20,000,000.00 in gross sales for 2020.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh gosh, Not at all. See, I came from a small city of Allentown, PA. We were poor. My mother always made a way of no way. When I was 13 my mother left home, only to return when I was 17. By that time, I have been expelled from the entire school district, I had to add courses just to graduate. I was living in a park in the last month of my graduating year. The day after graduation. I took my last McDonald’s Check and whatever clothes would fit in my book bag on the greyhound. I left. I moved to Atlanta when I was under 18 so it was very difficult to find work. I was working two to three part time jobs just to make ends meet. I was robbed and evicted. It was extremely difficult. However, that created an unbreakable foundation for me. Unmatched resilience. Which you most certainly need in this industry. In my first year in real estate, I sold six homes in total. In 2015, that was my turning point. I sold 5.1 in gross sales alone. I have been steadily increasing every year. But, it’s because of my resilience and my faith in GOD. I use that in my deals as well. To see everything through to the very end. To not give up on any clients. Even when everything around you seems impossible. My clients trust me to guide them through it all, and I do. Real Estate is an ever changing market. You have to versatile, and extremely resilient. I am constantly educating myself and my team. When I started my company. It was difficult, trusting yourself to create a brand that would change the way real estate brokerages conduct business. Your team depends on you, you create systems and processes. It is a big responsibility. I have had so many failed ideas and failed attempts to get the right structure and funding. You have to accept that even as the CEO, you have to be a student. I will be always be learning. I love that about this industry.
