Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Pendleton.
Kayla, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am originally from Illinois. I traveled to Georgia to finish school a couple of years ago and left to go back home. But, eventually moved back to Georgia for my career.
(Acting) I have always love and appreciated the arts (emphasizing the film and theater industry). My passion began in performing on stage as young girl in dance which turned into acting performances.I love showcasing my hard work and skills that I could be better than I was before. Even in college I made time writing original dramatic monologue pieces and performing in multiple platforms. Becoming an actress made me realize and understand the fundamentals that goes along with bringing the character to life.
(Wardrobe) At a young age I was taught hand-sewing and I realize that fashion is something I love(shopping and styling mainly)! But nonetheless, I decided to go to schooI to receive a Bachelors in fashion to work as a wardrobe stylist.
As of now, I do both. If I’m not working as an actress for one project than I am working on another project as a wardrobe stylist. I love what I do and believe that you live to dream and do what you love!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been a rollercoaster. Going after your goals, especially your career goals isn’t easy. It comes with challenges, sacrifices and lots of dedication. However, it pushes you…at least it pushes me. I see many people start something only to give up half-way. If you stay in the journey, you’ll see self growth and the understanding to appreciate where you started and why you began.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I always try to remind myself that the brand I represent is my name, Kayla Pendleton! My mum taught me that you only have your name.
(Actress) I have to study, learn, keep pushing, and network. The way to be better than who you were yesterday is knowing that life isn’t a race but your own unique journey. When I receive a script, I read, analyze, and understand the story and each of the characters. Getting to know the character isn’t just reading your part but becoming what you need the audience to see.
(Stylist) I have to study trends and understand how others could relate to the style. Outside of working on projects and I offer assistances with personal styling and closet revamp on my website.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Keeping God first, having an optimistic attitude, and dedication!
