Today we’d like to introduce you to KayLee Michelle Smith.
KayLee was inspired to share her adventures with the world after being disappointed about losing a writing contest at school. She was also disappointed about how a new student in her class was not able to make friends as easily as she did. She was especially concerned about kids who move to new places, having to make new friends. KayLee Michelle is far from average, as she is very sensitive to and mindful of things that kids transition through daily. She too had been this student before due to family changes.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been fun, but it’s not always easy to remember everyone’s names. I love going on tour, but sometimes I get tired. My mommy (Hashondra), my cousin (Angel), my sister (Cianie), and my grandmother (Yvette) helps me a lot. At first, I struggled with being shy. I’m still a little shy with some people; the kids are cool, but the grown-ups just look at you. 🙂 My mommy tells me to smile and stay focused, and that’s what I do. I usually get pizza or chocolate cake after all of my events.
Please tell us about your work.
I am managed by thePinkGroup (text hyperlink: www.thepinkgroupgirls.com). My mommy, “mommy-ger” and my cousin, “cuz-inger”, LOL! They are helping me to make my dreams come true! I am an aspiring author, entertainer, and dancer. I want to be a dance teacher when I grow up! I have already written and published a book with a spanish version, and I am currently working on my second book. It will be released on my birthday, July 5th every year. Cool right! I am also getting ready to record my first song. I have a song, “Do Better”, that I sing with my mommy, but she teases me saying that it’s her song. I say, “It’s OUR song.” 🙂 I specialize in making people smile while making myself happy. I want people to be friends. I am, ‘KAYLEE MICHELLE, THE AUTHOR OF ‘LET’S BE FRIENDS’”, but I’m so much more than that. I’m God in a body. I know that I can do anything I put my mind to, but I got to work at it! I don’t like to practice everything, but I practice dancing everyday! I need lessons, but I have so much fun!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family! I really love my family. My mommy pushes me to do better (our song), and she always says, “Now if you don’t want to do it, let me know and we will focus on what you want to do!” She yells a little sometimes, but don’t tell her I said that. My sister helps me get dressed; she does my hair and reads books to me. She helps me talk to people while I’m on tour when I get shy. I love her so much, and my grandmother is a teacher. She used to work at my school, but now she’s “retired”. OMG! She makes me do math on Saturdays, but she bakes me cookies and let me watch TV; I get to stay up late at her house. And then there’s Angel. She is my cousin and is very smart. She tries to teach me my lines when I have to speak somewhere, but her words are always so big. I have to remind her all the time that I’m just seven! There are so many people that help me from Patterson, my school, children’s church when I go. I have a LOT of family everywhere. Everybody loves KayLee! 🙂 and so many people have helped me, 🙁 I cannot name everyone.
