Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylin Anderson.
Kaylin was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she was a part of Lafayette Parish’s selective Talent ED Visual Arts Program and French Immersion Program. Throughout her middle school years, Kaylin participated in her community’s annual art exhibitions. This was an essential stepping-stone in her career as she was able to cut her teeth, exhibiting her work to the artistic community. Over those three years, Kaylin was able to track her development and obtain a hands-on gallery experience.
In 2016, Kaylin relocated to Georgia to further grow as an artist and take advantage of exciting new opportunities. By 2017, she was accepted into Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts, where she received her high school diploma. While attending the school of the arts, Kaylin honed and developed her raw and natural artistic talent. She had the opportunity to dive into graphic design, drawing, painting, ceramics, and set-design, among many other mediums. This was a foundational experience as it allowed her to discover her artistic identity and approach. In addition to that, Kaylin received the prestigious Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cup award for her academic achievements, community service, leadership, and extra-curricular involvement. Moreover, Kaylin soon grew a passion for painting and photography, and she has not looked back since.
Now, Kaylin is a full-fledged visual artist, working hard, building her portfolio, honing her identity, and collaborating with clients. Kaylin’s style and artistic approach are reflective and poignant. She expresses strong political and cultural views through compelling and visceral images. Her style is distinctive and unique, and she encourages her audience to connect to their personal feelings, thoughts, and ideas. The amazing artist is well-known for her commissioned portraits, mixed media paintings, street photography, and vibrant color palette.
Has it been a smooth road?
Since elementary school, I’ve never been comfortable with drawing or painting faces. However, since the pandemic, I decided to overcome my fear and tackle it head-on. After completing two portraits, I thought, why not take on a challenge and start taking commissions?
We’d love to hear more about your art.
I create art through traditional mediums such as painting, drawing, and ceramics. In addition, I prefer using digital mediums such as graphic design and photography. I enjoy editing through Adobe Creative Cloud. As of recent, I’ve been focusing more on portraits for clients. I’ve completed individual, couple, and family portraits.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel as though Atlanta is an amazing place for businesses like mine! There are so many creative minds and networking opportunities just floating around. For someone just starting up, I recommend that they believe in themselves and never settle. Lastly, never have a limited mindset.
