Meet Kelley Brown of The Joy Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelley Brown.

Kelley Brown

Hi Kelley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Passion, Pain, and Purpose catapulted me to where I am today. My name is Kelley Brown, and I am a proud native of Chicago, IL, a wife, mother, nana, published author, worshipping warrior, licensed professional counselor (LPC), consultant, educator, and the Director and CEO of The Joy Counseling and Consultant Services, LLC located in Fayetteville, GA.

It all started with a simple dance eight count, 5,6,7,8. Dance is Kelley’s passion, and serving others is her joy. In 2010, Kelley realized that she was living a life without the true joy of the Lord. She experienced depression, hopelessness, and despair, all while dancing and serving a victorious God. In 2011, Kelley birthed Joy in Motion, a transformational deliverance ministry to empower and equip dancers to take authority and champion over self-defeating thoughts and behaviors, and, ultimately over life challenges.

In March 2024, Kelley opened the doors to The Joy Center, LLC., a safe place to be inspired, a safe place to be empowered, and a safe place to be transformed.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth roads did not exist in Kelley’s journey. Relocating from Chicago at an early age, married, and having 2 children before the age of 25 was not a walk in the park. Kelley was divorced after 7 year of marriage. Kelley was faced with raising two small children at the age of 25 and finding her way in the ATL without any family.

Kelley was not able to finish her education until later in life due to many obstacles and challenges with being a single parent, career changes, financial struggles, and many failed unhealthy relationships.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk is all a part of the journey. Kelley took risk to go back to school as a single mother. Kelley took a risk to remarry and now has been married for 24 wonderful years. Kelley took a risk of faith and opened the doors of a counseling consultant center.

Kelley believes that without risk, there is no opportunity for obtaining a favorable outcome. Kelley sees risk as part of the process to obtain the necessary goal. Kelley’s perspective is 3-fold when it comes to risk/outcome/change,

1. You must make a choice/choose to be uncomfortable for a season…that is risk.

2. You must take a risk/chance on the desired outcome…

3. You must embrace the risk factors to obtain the desired change.
