Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Marques.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my cookie journey after going to a graduation party at a friend’s house. She had decorated sugar cookies there and I thought to myself, “I could make these”! It turned out that making them was not as easy as it looks! I watched a ton of Instagram videos, read cookie blogs and practiced a lot! I would make cookies and give them out to my neighbors…and they were sweet enough to tell me the looked great! Looking at pictures of some of my first cookies gives me a good laugh now! After many months of practice, I felt I was ready to sell some cookies! I love decorating sugar cookies because they feel like little pieces of artwork that you can eat! Funny enough, I am a Registered Dietitian, so selling decorated sugar cookies seems a little contradictory to that. However, I’m here to let you know, there is always room for fun foods in an otherwise well-rounded diet!!
Has it been a smooth road?
At times, decorating sugar cookies can be a real challenge in time management. Taking care of my four small children, coaching sports, taking kids to activities, helping with homework and keeping everyone fed leaves little time for cookies if I also want to sleep! But with the help of coffee, I try to cut out some time at night after everyone is in bed to decorate cookies. It’s my “me time”, and thankfully, I have a husband who is very supportive of that!

Cookies By Kelbelle specializes in custom sugar cookies! I love playing a small part in happy events of others, like birthdays, showers and weddings! My favorites include making holiday cookies, any cookie with flowers on it and cookies that are made to match invitations. I strive to not only make beautiful cookies but cookies that taste great! It makes my day when someone tells me that they loved their cookies!
