Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsea Sloan.
Kelsea, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out in retail before I was even a freshman in college. My goal was to learn and move up as soon as possible, which I did, and started out in big bod. I then moved onto the boutique world because I liked that it was a more personal and intimate setting with customers where you could actually style and help them.
I always wanted to own my own store and felt the urge from God to open my own store. I planned for a few months and had to come up with something that would make Kelsea Blaire stand out. We started out with fashion accessories, which we’ve grown from, because it was more affordable. The thing that we offer clients that helps us stand out is our personal styling sessions. We offer virtual sessions as well as in home sessions with Georgia residents. This allows us to access the clients closet while styling/ organizing versus just trying to sell them something.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never going to be smooth when you’re trying to birth something new, especially a business. I’ve learned from mistakes, hit some bumps in the road, and had inconsistency in sales. The greatest thing I’ve learned is you cannot access success without a few failures along the way. You can’t learn unless you fall a few times and get back up.
Please tell us about the business.
We house physical products like fashion accessories, handmade apparel, and fashion apparel. We also offer our customers personal styling sessions. These are offered virtually to any customer in the United States or in home to Georgia residents. These sessions are catered specifically to the customer either for styling help, or closet organization. This gives us the opportunity to not just sell to the customer but establish a relationship and get inside their closet, helping them find their own “unique personalized style.” We believe a woman can walk confidently in her life when she fills best about how she looks and by having an organized closet to “shop” her outfits on the day to day.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I don’t know if I have just one. but I can tell you I love tradition with family. Christmases are my favorite because we do things exactly the same every year and as the years have gone our family has grown even more so more people can join in on the late night Christmas Eve festivities, the early morning where we look at stockings, read the Christmas story from the Bible, and then one by one open presents from youngest to oldest. It lets hours but it’s the BEST!
