Hi Kenisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A week before graduating college with my bachelors, I found out I was pregnant. As unprepared and unexpected that was, I definitely had to prepare for this change. As my bump started to grow, searching for maternity clothes was not fun. The clothes were either not appealing for my style or too expensive! Then it dawned on me that I should start my own business selling maternity clothes. I named my boutique after my daughter and P. Mallory Maternity was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road because the world is saturated with clothing boutiques. Trying to find my niche, deciding on what I wanted to sell, and finding my target audience have been my biggest challenges thus far. After trial and error, I decided that I wanted to sell comfy, everyday clothing that are made for before, during, and after pregnancy.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about P. Mallory Maternity?
P. Mallory Maternity launched back in 2019. It is an online clothing boutique selling comfy, everyday maternity clothing to women before, during, and after their pregnancy. We strive to make every mom to be or current mom feel relaxed and comfortable through their clothing. I feel what sets my clothing apart from others is that it’s not just one time wear. I provide affordable, versatile pieces that can be paired together or with something already in your closet. What keeps me going is knowing that business is named and inspired by my daughter. She is my motivation to take my boutique to the top!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
There is a business coach, Jance Chartae, that I originally found on YouTube, then followed on Instagram, and then eventually invested in to gain as much knowledge with running a business. Just watching a video from her, motivates me everyday and inspires me to get where I want to be personally and financially with my business.
