Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Pugh.
Kenny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my coaching business almost ten years ago because I identified a huge need and wanted to be a part of the solution. I initially began by sharing helpful information via online message boards and being a guest at various in-person events around the city of Atlanta. It confirmed just how much sound, relevant life & relationship advice, and coaching was needed.
I offered advice on my blog which documented my relationship journey and as well as my life as a single man. I was able to build interest and a following, mainly because my story included my vow of celibacy. I’ve learned that authenticity has been one of the primary keys to my success. I enhanced my coaching business by adding a radio show known as the Chat Kafe. It allowed me to get my life & relationship tips to the masses while also interviewing some pretty cool celebrities.
As I reflect on where my business is today, I realize that simple is definitely better. People are struggling with various aspects of their lives and relationships, and my coaching helps people gain clarity out of confusion. Today I offer online and one-on-one coaching. I also conduct workshops aimed at improving relationships.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My business journey has definitely not been easy. When I first started I went through a lot of money as I experimented with various ideas. I reached a point where I had to make a decision to go back to corporate America in order to make ends meet. Unfortunately, our plans don’t always work out and that’s okay. I was able to reformulate my business plan, implement lessons learned and focus on things directly aligned with the success of my business.
The key mistakes I made were:
1. Wasted time on things not directly related to the success of my business. In business, the business owner has to know what activities lead to purchased products or services. Concerning yourself with anything else leads to distraction.
2. Tried marketing to everyone, which led me not being able to connect with anyone. You have to have a target ideal client. Without one, people have trouble identifying whether or not you’re talking to them.
3. Attempted to do everything by myself. Get. Some. Help!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Kenny Pugh Life & Relationship Coaching – what should we know?
I own and operate Kenny Pugh Life & Relationship Coaching. I offer coaching services including relationship, business, and money coaching. This allows me the opportunity to help people in major areas of their lives.
I’m most proud of my company’s role in promoting healthy relationships and strong marriages. My products and services allow me to play a key role in the success and happiness of people’s lives. My authenticity and transparency definitely set me apart from others in my space.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have to give credit to my wife who has been a cheerleader and advisor to my business.
She provides feedback and offers advice on how to take my business to next level. I refer to her as #coachbae. 🙂
