Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenya Cochran.
Kenya, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in west palm beach Florida. Since I was a little girl I’ve always wanted to Help others, through dance and acting. In high school I was a Gatorette (dancer) also became who’s who among American students of America. Graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High school In 2001. Went to college unfortunately dropped out because of life circumstances got in the way. With two kids being a single mother my journey wasn’t going to be easy. But as I got older my dreams changed. Realizing my passion to not only speak but to also do hair and makeup. I absolutely love making women feel good about themselves, it’s a little easier to find yourself when you not only look great but you feel great as well. I wondered to myself how can I put them both together? Two of my favorite passions. And that’s when MnM Beauty7 was born. Makeup on A Mission.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth but worth every sacrifice. I can truly say that the biggest obstacle was trying not to give up on it all. You see others around you succeeding in every way, and you feel as though you’re doing something wrong. “Maybe I need to quit and do what they’re doing since it seems to work”! Not knowing the struggles they may have encountered. I had no education no license “where were you going girl”?! Lol! I don’t know, but what I did know, there was something down on the inside of me that wouldn’t allow me to quit. I tried trust me, but when you are called to something bigger than you that urge will never go away. The biggest struggle wasn’t being homeless jobless friendless loneliness, but it was never giving up.
MnMBeauty7 – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
MnMBeauty7 is all about the community and bringing women together! Building that bridge of security. Twice a month we have Ladies Night. Topics are Christian base but also open to share stories and testimonies. I welcome new business owners who may have products to share and or sell to the ladies. At ladies night, I also share makeup and hair tips, I have special guest speakers to come and share their story with us. It’s all about the community and bringing one another together through MnMBeauty7 (makeup on a Mission).
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Seeing the growth of our community, knowing that the women are excited for Ladies’ Night! Seeing the changes in each and every one of them. Sharing my home with other small business owners to promote their business. And the growth in myself.
