Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerene Graham.
Hi Kerene, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, my journey in the fashion industry started with me modeling. I did run away, print and music videos. I started to realize that I had liked helping the other models put together looks for photo shoots or for gigs. I decided to do more research on styling to see if it was something I really wanted to do. For a while, I did not pursue wardrobe styling because I was unsure of how to really get started. When I started to work at Topshop, I met my friend Vincent. And with his help, I was able to start my journey as a wardrobe stylist. Since then, I’ve styled music videos, photo shoots, editorials I’ve been published a couple of times.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always obstacles for you to overcome on your way to success. One of my obstacles is getting out of my own way. Meaning a lot of times I get to overthinking and overthinking leads me into a path of feeling stagnant. Even if I’m out here doing all these great things and all being published the mind is a hell of a thing and I had to learn how to quiet those negative thoughts and show up as my true self in every space that I go into. So I would say my struggle is getting out of my head but I am now overcoming that and the more I step in to myself the more I feel great about where my career is heading.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a wardrobe stylist and Content creator. I am most proud of my first photo shoot that got published. It was published in Huf Magazine. The name of that photo shoot was Galactic Babe. It was the first time I ever pulled from a shower room and it was the first time I ever got published. I am super proud of that photo shoot. Because it’s snow that day and I met the photographer (Korryn Hale) for the first time on sat of the photo shoot. And now me and Photographer are really close friends!
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During the pandemic, I learned that everything happens for a reason. And sometimes you have to stop and relax and rethink and revisit things. You do not have to do everything so fast; sometimes it’s OK to go slow.
