Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Coney.
Kevin, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Playmaker Clothing has got where it is today because of the consistency of the brand. We’ve came so far from being inconsistent with drops, and lacking inventory. We use to have a large number of orders on back order. We always had a high demand from the customers but we just as well as we got them, we lost them because orders would take up to 14 days to be shipped. We’ve became a more organized business to where everything ordered is on hand and ships out sometime the same day but mainly a day or two after the order had been placed. We have definitely prevailed from being mediocre to being legit. I say all that to say We stayed down through storm and stayed in our lane. There is no ceiling for this brand.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was very bumpy, but after a while, after you’ve continued to press down and move forward, it becomes smooth. The struggle for us was consistent inventory which came from being unorganized. I started to take my craft more serious and everything else came into place.
Please tell us about your business.
We are Mainly a T-Shirt brand but we also have other items from time to time. We are Urban Street Wear, and we encourage everyone to make PLAYS. Anyone can be a Playmaker.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The plans for the future is still the same. We are still working on the expansion and trying to stay relevant. Our plans at Playmaker is to hopefully one day be big enough to have our own store front and feature other local rising brands. We know how it is to start from the bottom and wanna help out others expand their brand. Everybody eats!
