Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Robinson Jr.
Hi Kevin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born in Atlanta, Georgia to Kevin Robinson and Anissa Walker-Thompson. As a child I had a love for television and film. I would often have several of my family members take me to the movies often.
One of the earliest movies I remember seeing was Wild Wild West with Will Smith and thinking I want to do that. That lead me to any and everything related to the making of television and film.
I would spend hours watching film commentary and other material included in home media. In high school we would always be asked our future plans and when I mentioned acting I always felt I was being judged for my answer by my fellow students.
On the flip side I was always encouraged by teachers that I told it to. They would also constantly call on me to read out loud in class which would end up helping me in the future. My first official gigs in the industry was as an extra in television and film, which led me to appear in independent films and shorts.
Shortly after I created, starred and wrote a mini web series called “A Few Thirsty Men”. From there I made my way to television, in co-starring roles appearing on Discovery Channel’s “Dead Silent”, BET’s The Quad”, Starz’s BMF and Peacock’s, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.
All while serving as a correspondent and writer for ComedyHype.com. Where I accumulated over 3M+ views with content that I appeared in and wrote.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was and continues to be a struggle.I had no clue how to even begin to make my way in the business and I didn’t know anyone directly connected to it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve appeared in award-winning productions, stories, and productions. Proven track record of providing fresh insight, concepts, and content ideas. Wide-ranging knowledge of television, radio, hosting, and video projects from inception to completion.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Going to see the latest movie in theaters. I can remember looking at the news paper seeing all the newest movies being released that week, even if I wasn’t going. I would also often act out my favorite movies and shows.
