Meet Kevin Tyrl of Foodie Anonymous

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Tyrl.

Kevin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am @Foodie_Anonymous of Atlanta, and I have a Food Addiction.

Even though I am based in Atlanta, my taste buds have no geographical or cultural limits. They are able to explore the world more than I ever physically could.

This urge to explore the food and cultures of the world might have started from my upbringing in New Orleans, encouraged from cooking with my family most of my life, or very likely from the sensual release that I get from every bite that I take from a double-decker bacon burger slathered in waterfalls of ooey gooey cheese. However, my food obsession was definitely defined because of Atlanta.

When I first moved to Atlanta in 2003, you had three types of restaurants to choose from: restaurant chains, local diners, or fancy restaurants (that I couldn’t afford at that time in my life). The food scene here was pretty boring and very stagnant. So much that when I moved to Houston I dove in face first into the food scene for three straight years.

Eventually, the food gods had it written in the stars for me to return to this amazing city, for it had changed within the course of time I was gone. For better or worse, Atlanta has shaped my food life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Hmmm, has it been a smooth road? Well, if we are talking about the topography of my body it has been a very curvy road in my mid-drift area! Which has lead me to the gym life 6 days a week, and modifying mine at home cooking habits and recipes?

However, to better answer this question in a more accurate and non-superficial way: Even with all the struggles that may come with this job this has still been one of the greatest jobs I have ever had. My business connections and network happen to be my best friends, and job responsibilities are to eat and drink delicious food!

Foodie Anonymous – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I run two pages on Instagram: @Foodie_Anonymous and @Ramen_Anonymous. I am known for disgustingly delicious and over the top food with my Foodie Anonymous page and oodles of Noodles with my Ramen Anonymous page.

If you enjoy watching someone eat all the foods that you shouldn’t/can’t eat, such as an 8lb Grim Reaper Bacon Cheese Burger, then Foodie Anonymous would be the perfect page for you. Also, my followers have informed me that they enjoy my posts, but love to follow me for the crazy and wacky stories that I post.

They enjoy watching and interacting with me while on my foodie adventures throughout Atlanta and the world. Whichever stories do the best I then post them as permanent highlights on my profile page?

However, if you have a delicious addiction to noodles the @Ramen_Anonymous page would be a noodle haven for you! Ramen, Udon, Pho, Tsukemen, and Beef Noodle Soup! If you show me your Noods, then I’ll show you mine at Ramen Anonymous.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success in what some would just call a business network, but what I call friends… or even more specifically – Family!

I am so lucky to meet so many people that are so different from me in so many ways, but that we can still form lifetime friendships over what others I have known my whole life would just call FOOD! When a group of people’s passion for food can overcome any or all of our individual differences that is the greatest success I could ever dream of.

A little over a year ago I coordinated my very first Foodie Potluck in hopes of bringing together a group of foodies to build each other up; whereas most foodie content creator markets can be pretty competitive. For most of us, it is our dream to become a full-time food marketer that only does advertising for the product that we love.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to be Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern, and travel the world eating each bite as a new adventure. Well, with my amazing food family we talk, laugh, and of course eat while sharing local restaurants and businesses together as a team, helping each other grow rather than just helping ourselves. I could have never done this without my food family, and even if I could I wouldn’t have been any happier than I am now.

So I define success as finding your family and discovering who you are in this world with them. As my mother has always said to me growing up, “Food is Memories!” With that logic, I would rather share my life’s memories with my family.

Special thanks to all my food family! You have filled my heart more than the cholesterol from a bowl of ramen, or a triple-decker cheeseburger could ever do!
