Today we’d like to introduce you to Keyana Pratt.
Keyana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am originally from Lansing, MI but spent my collegiate career in Houston, where I attended the University of Houston and studied public relations. As a college student, I always had desires to work in entertainment and media and it was always a dream of mine to move to Atlanta. Growing up in a small town, it was easy to see life only as big as what was around you. I’ve heard of so many stories of people who wish they had followed their dreams but never had the opportunity or courage to make their dreams become a reality. I’ve always been a go-getter and never wanted to give up on my goals, so after I graduated college I figured this was the best time for me to go after my dreams and make that move to Atlanta.
Since living in Atlanta, I have worked to build my career and network around the city. I’ve also branded myself with a lifestyle blog called Keeping Up with Keyana which documents my life post-grad, building a career in a new city and other fun topics that highlight my journey of being a millennial trying to make her way into the industry.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not been smooth at all. I don’t think it is ever easy to move to a new city and build a new life in unfamiliar territory. Living in a new town and trying to establish yourself can be very intimidating and trying to do so in an oversaturated industry is twice as hard. One thing I’ve learned along the way is never to allow fear to get in the way of following your dreams. Fear is probably one of the biggest stumbling blocks that will prevent you from moving forward.
Along the way, I’ve learned that everything is a process. As long as you are consistent and stay true to yourself, everything will happen in its own time. It is so important to remain consistent and never compare yourself to others. You may not be the best writer, speaker or actor yet but the more you practice, the better you will be. That is what makes your passion authentic and unique and what makes you stand out from others; it is genuine and raw. Overall, I am learning the importance of being confident in yourself and staying consistent. If you continue to do those two things, the rest will fall together. Even with all of the obstacles and doubts, this journey has been so rewarding and it’s a dream I will continue to fight for.

I am a content creator. I share my honest and transparent moments on my blog, Keeping Up with Keyana – Keyanapratt.com – a lifestyle blog about what it is like being a 24-year-old trying to build a brand and navigate her way through life post-grad. My goal is to inspire and influence others to follow their dreams by merely sharing my experiences and my journey as I navigate my way through life.
The proudest moment I would say is just overall knowing the impact I have made in such little time. Hearing how I’ve inspired people to create their venture and learning how I have been of influence has been the highest honor. I still feel like I don’t have everything together but to know that I can make even the slightest difference in the world is an amazing feeling.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I see myself being a household brand owning multiple businesses and continually inspiring others to go after their dreams.
