Keyon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born and raised in the infamous zip cope of 48205 of Detroit, Michigan. I am the youngest of four brothers to a single parent mother Michelle Clinton. Growing up in an impoverished community, I became a product of my surroundings. From gangs, drugs and physical violence, I had no choice but to adapt to my environment. After finishing high school, I went to Michigan State University which was one of the greatest decisions for me at the time. Although it was a culture shock for me because that was my first time leaving the east side of Detroit I was up for the challenge. Seven long years is how long it took me to graduate but I promised my mother that I was not coming back until I became a man and found my purpose in life. Obtaining my bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering was great but I knew there was more for me to do. I always tell people that you career is what you get paid for but your calling is what you’re made for! I am an Execution Coach. I specialize in helping others execute by pushing them to a level of uncomfortable through confidence, intentionality, purpose and self-sufficiency.
I’m an international speaker, author, founder of my own non-profit organization F.A.M.I.L.Y (Forget About Me, I Love You!) which was recognized by Forbes as a culture maker in Michigan, Award-winning bodybuilder and Creator of the 1% Better lifestyle movement. Every day that you wake up ask yourself how can you become at least 1% Better today? Spiritually, mentally or physically we help other execute and increase the efficiency in their daily operations to become better people and professionals.
After reaping success since graduating college in 2015, I knew it was time to expand. I was able to walk away from my 6 figure paying job to walk in my true purpose. I have created the 1% Better University for 1% Better Brand Ambassadors all over the world to adopt this growth mindset. I am excited to say that we have over 40 ambassadors through the United States of America and is projected to have 100 in 2020.
Has it been a smooth road?
Success is not a straight path. You will encounter detours! Coming from the hood and being conditioned to think that success is not meant for you is a mindset that is hard to break. I was never the type to try to fit in but I was also excluded from a lot of groups because of my mannerisms (or lack thereof I should say). Greatness requires distance and when you make the decision to elevate your life it hurts to realize that everybody cannot go with you.
Building a brand from scratch without prior experience and mentorship made things rough in the beginning for me. I bump my head and made a lot of mistakes. I realize that you never lose in life. You either win or learn, you learn to win bigger. I took my lessons and turned them into study guides to be better prepared for adversity. There will always be people who do not see your vision and that is ok but I had to realize that it’s not personal people just like results.
I didn’t come from a family who understood business or had degrees to show me the way so my journey was foreign. I fell in love with the word NO. No, doesn’t mean it’s over, no mean next opportunity! When you understand that then you will become an ambitious machine that will stop at nothing until the goal is reached. Doubt and fear played a huge role until I gain a certain level of confidence that can never be diminished by any person or institution.
Challenges produces choices! Whenever there’s a challenge you have a choice to do the right thing. The bigger the challenge the greater the reward if you make the right choice. That’s how I look at it.

In 2016, I created the movement 1% Better to inspire others that 1 step, 1 opportunity or 1 decision can change your life forever. After the interest from the community grew I knew it was time to build out the business.
I am an Execution Coach. I specialize in helping others execute by establish execution strategies to help them become spiritually, mentally, physically or professionally fit.
We host workshops and seminars on professional, personal and career development. We also host MEGA bootcamps because a main focus is health and wellness. We’re also into corporate with our 1% Better Corporate Wellness programs that focus on health inequities and health disparities within the surrounding communities.
Our expand as a company is something that I am highly proud of. From Detroit to Atlanta, all the way to Africa we have ambassadors who are impacting their local communities and we are looking forward to more growth in 2020.
