Khadija, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started when I was 15 and my local dance studio in Hempstead NY needed help with their social media presence. I began helping the owner with her content and I stayed with them for four years until I moved to Atlanta for college.
In 2020 I landed a social media internship with Caribbean Life TV and I remember being so excited to create content that connected with my Trinidadian roots.
Once the internship ended I received a social media associate offer from Paramount Plus and it truly felt like a dream come true. I moved to LA and worked there for about three years until my husband and I decided to relocate back to Atlanta.
While working in other corporate social media roles I started to feel like I was meant for something bigger. This year I finally made the decision to launch my own marketing agency Voxara Media. The moment I announced it I started receiving client requests and that confirmed that I am walking in my purpose.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I did not come from a privileged background, so I had to work twice as hard to make sure I succeeded. I was balancing personal challenges at home while also attending college full time and working full time. I thank God every day that I was able to rise above my past and become the person my younger self would be proud of.
