Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Dancie.
Kiana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I graduated from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. a school that most people called “The Party School!!” Although we did party, actually we partied HARD; we did get the work done!! THE REAL GSU made you or BROKE you and sent you right back home!! In my case, it made me! I was a hope scholar and when I graduated, I had a job! I went to work for Sony and later, I moved to Houston, TX. to work for Samsung Telecommunications. Houston was an amazing opportunity and experience for me. I fostered beautiful relationships and to this very day, I call them family! When I moved to Houston, I was in a long term relationship. I loved that man so much, but whenever we broke up and that was often, the story always ended with I decided not to kill him!!! My friends and family always told me, my stories were hilarious! So, with the urging of my dear friend Demetria Caston, I stepped on stage for open mic, armed with only my stories and my insanely high self-esteem! Boooooom!!!! The room erupted with laughter and I never looked back!
Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing is ever smooth!! EVERRRR! After getting laid off my corporate job at Samsung Telecommunications, I had decisions to make. Do I stay in Houston or chase my dream? I chose the latter… I ran to LA! I left my man, home and everything I owned in Houston!
Going to sunny Southern California, was like running away to the circus! Life was up and down. Comedy shows were sporadic. There was never paid shows but always, exposure and a chance for someone to discover me. I did what the people do in LA… I worked out. I ate lettuce. I drank smoothies and acted rich! I was far from rich, had little money but I drove a beautiful brand new drop-top 6 series BMW and I was pretty funny! Then, Atlanta or Hollywood of the South came calling! I returned home to endless opportunities. I was casted on show called Atlanta Plastics where I got a surgery that I’ve always wanted!! I got the bags under my eyes removed!!! Removing those, reminded me to remove my emotional baggage!! I then went on multiple comedy tours with Bounce TV, Earthquake, Kountry Wayne, JessHilarious and then co-hosting Sister Circle Live.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I’m a comedienne, actress, author, media personality, real estate agent and a CPR -Cell Phone Repair franchise owner. I am one of four black women that own within the company. The 2nd black woman is my mama! She is my business partner along with my brother. As an entertainer, I specialize in bringing the funny! I make people of all demographics and backgrounds laugh. I’ve been on tour with many comedians, which was amazing but I’m most proud of the 2 recent movies that I was in. Greg Carter’s & BETher “One Crazy Christmas” and Netflix’s Sextuplets challenged me as an actress was quite surprised with my acting chops! My ownership in CPR CELL PHONE REPAIR reminded me that running a business is never easy! Im invested not only financially but also emotionally. It drives me crazy when my techs are unable to repair a customer’s device for whatever reason. CPR (CELL PHONE REPAIR) specializes in repairing cell phones, tablets, computers & drones. We buy and resale phones and other devices.
What sets us apart from the competition, is we guarantee our work and never use aftermarket parts. This is the CPR policy! We stand behind our repairs and our customer service.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
For all of the many hats that I wear, Atlanta is an amazing place to be, live and operate!! Atlanta is the new Hollywood! We are the Hollywood of the South!! If you’re not in LA or New York, you must be in Atlanta!! Now, for my store CPR (CELL PHONE REPAIR), my location at 2200 Duluth Hwy. Suite B102 is in a LIVE-WORK-PLAY location! People are always breaking or cracking their screens and I have 600 residents in walking distance! So, yes, my store is in the perfect location!
