Meet Kieara Hall of Queen Vixen in Gwinnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kieara Hall.

Kieara, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Pregnant at 17, the thought never crossed my mind that I wouldn’t be able to finish school or accomplish any of my dreams. I honestly was more afraid of not being accepted as a young mother or being constantly judged for bearing a child in high school, outside of marriage. I’ve never really been the type to be afraid of trying something new or taking a chance. I’ve always been a rebel and moved to my own beat, at my own pace. I am definitely not proud of every choice that I’ve ever made, or even most choices I have made, but my experiences have shaped me to be the strong, resilient woman I am now. It is exhausting being independent and raising a beautiful and talented daughter, yet I have defied many statistics so that she has no excuses of living to her full potential without making all of the mistakes I’ve made. With the support of my family, I went to college (shout out to my Savannah State Family), and even later achieved my Master’s. I’ve made it to the corporate world and am continually marking things off my checklist, always remaining “constructively” dissatisfied – I always desire more.

In 2018, I decided to stop dreaming and wanting and took on the challenge of becoming an entrepreneur. I grew up a California girl and always looked forward to swimsuit shopping every year. I am also a water baby at heart, so swimwear just made sense. My desire was to create a brand that resonated with the inner Queen that we females possess without sacrificing our inner sex appeal. Queen Vixen was created for women to embrace and love their bodies, as we should all feel comfortable in whatever we may choose to wear. As I have matured into the woman I am today, I have learned to love myself and body, flaws and all, and I hope when women wear Queen Vixen they do the same. There is so much that I have envisioned for my brand in the future (outside of swimwear and clothing). I am excited to continue to grow and make visions a reality.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not always been a smooth one. Running Queen Vixen has been a learning experience to say the least. Planning and executing daily business activities is only half the battle. Remaining consistent and innovative is where the real work lies. I have had to learn marketing and become comfortable displaying myself in some of my pieces, although that was never part of my initial plan. Another challenge I deal with daily is balancing Queen Vixen, along with my full-time, very demanding day job, and single mom duties. Balancing life and staying motivated daily is a constant challenge that I face as an entrepreneur daily; however, it is one that is fulfilling and worth every sacrifice and effort.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Queen Vixen, LLC is an online swimwear store catering to women of all shapes and sizes (sizes run from small-5x). Queen Vixen, also known as Queen Vixen Swim & Body, also offers intimate loungewear and satin robes. We have recently introduced men’s swimwear due to popular demand and they were a hit for summer 2020. I am proud of the diverse team of ambassadors/influencers that I have had the opportunity to work with that have been a great fit for the brand. Although Queen Vixen is still a small ecommerce company, our reach and network has grown every year, which helps motivate me to continue operating and expanding the business. Queen Vixen highlights the everyday Queen and does not focus on individuals having millions of followers with super perfect model bodies. Our ambassadors and customers are diverse and really help bring the brand to life. Queen Vixen is fun, flirty, affordable, and black-owned.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is and has been a great place to start an e-commerce business. The networking opportunities are endless and there are tons of resources available to help business owners grow, market, and scale their business. There are plenty of business owners at various stages of entrepreneurship that a new business owner can learn from. I would highly recommend starting a business in Atlanta.
