Today we’d like to introduce you to Kijana Davis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I think about how we got started I’d use one word, faith. From the time my husband and I started dating we always talked about having our own business. Both of our grandfathers were entrepreneurs. After moving to Atlanta in 2006, I worked in the security industry for 5+ years, without much advancement. I remember literally praying to God and asking for me not to get called back into work. My co-workers & I were laid off for a construction period. And what do you know, I was one of few people who weren’t called back. That was 2011. Fast forward to July 2013. That was the summer we started our landscaping business. Four days after my 27th birthday we applied for our business license. At that time, my husband was working as a subcontractor for Emory University, and they were laid off for the summer. I will never forget, his 1st day back for the school year, he put in his two week notice. We never looked back! We worked hard to build that business and had our daughter in September 2014.
After having her we realized how truly blessed we were from the outpouring of love, support, and gifts. We wanted to be more of a blessing to others so in 2016, Guiding Light Foundation was birthed. A nonprofit catering to young women, empowering them and preparing them for adulthood. Then in 2017, we began our journey in the financial services industry. Initially, our goal was to supplement our income during the rainy winter months. However, five months into my career, someone very close to me passed away unexpectedly. It wasn’t until that moment I realized the power I had via the services my company offers. I decided to dedicate my time to building my business while my husband focused on the landscaping. My goal is now to speak to as many people as possible about financial literacy and properly protecting their families.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Whew. Heck no! It’s been one of the best roller coasters of my life. We’ve experienced financial challenges, employee challenges, balancing work/family life, etc.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Infinite Wealth Builders – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a company that thrives on helping people. From walking you through your journey to financial freedom to offering you a business opportunity. I’d say we specialize in helping our clients fulfill their vision. We help bring their financial goals and dreams to fruition. We turn our landscaping clients vision for their home to a reality and give our prom winners their ideal prom. What I’m most proud of is the fact we never took the easy way out. We made mistakes along the way but we tried again, and again, and again. What I think sets us apart is our drive. No matter how many times we get knocked down we always want to learn, grow, and be better.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m excited to become a Regional Vice President in six months, run my own brokerage firm, and make six figures or more. I’m on a crusade to recruit ambitious leaders, as we’re growing into an army of licensed financial advisors. We will be one of the largest black-owned financial firms in North America. We’ll also be opening some new positions for my landscaping company. Next year with my nonprofit, we’ll be working with young men as well the young ladies. I also will be doing a book bag drive.
