Meet Kim Piroli of Piroli Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Piroli.

Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From as early as I can remember, I was very observant of my surroundings — the colors, the furniture, the way things were arranged. Even as a child, I’d change the colors in my room or move pieces around to experiment with different layouts and color combinations. My father was an architect so I grew up surrounded by blueprints and sketches – I absorbed it all without realizing it at the time. Creativity and design became part of who I am.

My professional journey didn’t begin in interiors, though. I started my career as a NICU nurse, caring for the most fragile of newborns. It was intense and deeply meaningful work that required compassion, patience, and precision — qualities that still shape how I approach every design project today. Later, I earned my MBA and worked with startups, which gave me a strong business foundation and the structure I needed to eventually launch something of my own.

Friends and colleagues had been encouraging me for years to follow my creative instincts, and when I finally did, Piroli Design was born. What started as a passion has grown into a full-service luxury residential and commercial design studio serving clients throughout Atlanta and beyond. I’m incredibly grateful for the clients who trust me with their homes and workplaces – and who, over time, often become dear friends.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge in building a design business is in maintaining a work-life balance.
When you love what you do, it’s easy for it to take over. Inspiration doesn’t keep office hours. Learning to create boundaries while still delivering the level of service and attention my clients expect has been important.

I’ve also learned that trust is everything and it needs to be built and understood from the outset. The best projects happen when a client believes in your vision and allows you to carry it through fully. That partnership is what turns a house into a home and brings the design fully to life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Piroli Design?
Piroli Design is a full-service interior design studio based in Atlanta, specializing in custom residential and boutique commercial projects. Our studio offers comprehensive services including full-scale renovations, new builds, kitchen and bath design, and interior furnishing. Each project is approached with a focus on timeless style, thoughtful detail, and a seamless client experience — from concept to completion.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about design is the transformation — not just in the space itself, but in how my clients love spending time in their new surroundings.

What I don’t love are trends for the sake of trends or design that feels disposable. I believe in creating timeless spaces that h0ave longevity and feel curated rather than “decorated”. True design should stand the test of time.
