Meet Kimberly McNeal of Disciplined Design in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly McNeal.

Kimberly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We started with $347.00 and an idea that we can do anything if we set our minds. I had been laid off from an Executive Sales position working for a Vertical Garden Company and did not know what I was going to do next.

I had to really make the choice to continue to help others grow their business or believe in my own. I first came up with my name as I truly believe if we work towards having discipline and order in our lives success will follow.

I explained to my daughters and son what I wanted to accomplish and they said “Let’s do it” We didn’t have funding or any capital but we did have was passion, creativity and the knowledge that together we can do great things. Failure is always an option but success is an even better one. We had many moments we wanted to give up sometimes thinking that maybe we were in way over our heads. But, each time we would lift each other up and say, ” No, there’s no other way than to keep going”

One home at a time, each offering another way to grow in business and personally. Each home teaches us something valuable that we carry and in turn we have built our business model.

Our business has grown and we now offer Interior Design, Home Staging and Renovation Consultation for Investment properties. In a little over three years we have built our business with hard work, no debt and determination. We are family owned and blessed to work with people we know, love and trust. Building a company we all believe in. I could not have done this without my kids, Marissa, Monique and Mckenzy. They have kept me going and motivated.

Mckenzy has Autism and he is a daily reminder of knowing that thru obstacles, we will overcome with determination.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, so many times we were wondering how we could actually continue. We had to sacrifice sometimes using our own furnishings to complete a staging project. We have had to take items from our own homes to use to make a staged home have that extra something. We believe in our family and our business and realize through adversity and sacrifice will come success.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our company started as a Home Staging Firm, we now are offering Interior Design, Interior Styling and Home Renovation Consultation.

What sets our company apart from the rest is the fact we are all family members a mom and her kids. We have grown up together and built this business together. We have been open to every opportunity that has come knowing it will only make us strong as a company, we don’t measure success by how much money is in the bank we measure success as how many clients we can assist making their spaces beautiful. No client or space is the same and we understand this and work on building and assisting our clients.

What we are most proud of is the fact we have grown so much from where we started. We are proud of the fact that together we know that as a group we can accomplish great things. We are fortunate we work on creating beautiful homes for great people and sharing in their dream and ours.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We do think Atlanta is a great city to start a Design Firm. The opportunities are endless. This city is a great place to gather experience.

The design industry is abundant with many areas to focus on. Atlanta, is a location that offers a wide range experience opportunities.
