Omega Learning® Center was founded in 2005 by long standing Cobb County, Georgia residents, Kimberly Smith, Kathy Keeton, and their mother Joyce Smith. The motivation for their business model began with a passion for educational excellence and a desire to help their community. The purpose was to provide communities with an accredited tutoring and test prep center for ALL grades, with diversified services taught by certified teachers. Omega’s founders wanted to provide parents with daily tutor communication, customized programs, flexible scheduling, and affordable pricing. At the forefront of industry trends, Omega founder hired a curriculum developer to create enrichment-based curriculum to help students build vital critical thinking skills, needed to apply their knowledge to more advanced learning concepts. Omega’s founders added a library of manipulatives and multi-sensory teaching resources to help their tutors most efficiently teach students with varying learning styles. With unprecedented advancements, Omega Learning® Center continues to add validated teaching resources, cultivate vital school and community partnerships, and increase functionality to our proprietary, industry-leading software System. Omega Learning® was the first, and remains the only, national tutoring franchise System utilizing a proprietary software system that facilitates daily, reciprocal, communication between Omega tutors, parents, our students’ school teachers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As an extension of Omega’s vast educational services, the program, Omega Private Academy® first began operating in 2007, upon direct request from several parents who had children attending the center for tutoring. These parents had one common goal for their children who were struggling in their current educational environment. They were looking for a unique school, where their children could benefit from a low student teacher ratio and individualized instruction. Omega Learning® has always believed that we were at service to our community and accepted the first few students into our learning center for schooling.
The Omega Private Academy® program began with a group of five students and the initial success of the program brought significant changes in the second year of operation. In 2008, Omega brought together an elementary, middle and high school program, student council, and began the accreditation process with AdvancED. Today with franchised centers across the southeast, Omega Learning® Center is becoming a household name and continues to stand out as the role model for the private and supplemental education industry.

Tutoring and Test Prep K-12, as well as a boutique private school. Communication is the cornerstone of Omega’s value added benefit and competitive advantage. Omega Connect™ is their proprietary business management software System. Omega tutors use the e-Tutor module that facilitates student progress management, access to a broad array of remediation teaching resources, and the ability to quickly send daily progress communication updates to not only the parents at home, but also the students’ school teachers. Understanding the importance of an “Academic Team” within a successful tutoring System, Omega placed a direct line of communication at the core of its business model, and created a software System facilitating daily, reciprocal communication between Omega tutor, parents, and schoolteachers, maximizing each child’s academic growth, which is two years and six months upon program completion.
What were you like growing up?
Kimberly Smith Rief, our CEO, has been a life-long entrepreneur. From a very early age she worked in the family business and saw first-hand both sides of being self-employed. She has held 17 patents, started a manufacturing business, a production company, and a now a franchise system. The Franchisor has the responsibility to keep the services of our private school under the brand of Omega Learning®. Omega Private Academy® is a program offered under the accreditation of Omega Learning®. The academies grow from the success of the tutoring programs. Academies are marketed through tutoring student mass emails, open houses, center-distributed brochures, postcards and yard signs.
When looking for an academic solution, Omega understands that parents have two goals. They wish to increase their student’s classroom performance AND fill their skill gaps for future grades. Omega’s tutoring programs are customized for each child based on the results of the Woodcock Johnson IV assessment results, MyStudyStyle® – our proprietary learning style assessment, grades in school, current study habits, and family goals. Omega provides a warm and friendly learning environment for its students.
Omega tutors integrate the following five key objectives throughout their program: Remediation, homework help, test preparation, study skills, and enrichment.

- Test Prep: $35-55 per hour
- Private School: 850-1100 per month
