Today we’d like to introduce you to Kindora.
Kindora, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been very vocal, but there was a specific moment that I thought I had to be for my LIFE… We had a shower that looked like there was a skeleton protruding through the wall and I was TERRIFIED of it.. one day I told my grandma about it (rip) and she told me the spirits just wanted to hear me sing and they’d leave me alone… So yes, I thought I was singing for my life at seven years old.
So as a kid, I was doing local talent shows and school talent shows and I realized it was something I HAD to do. I didn’t do anything else musically until I graduated high school after I posted a Portishead cover on YouTube, Nerdork and Rock Floyd found me and I’ve been working with Rock Floyd ever since I started making music… Almost all of my beats are produced exclusively by him. So that’s a very filtered version of where it all BEGINS.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every day that I choose to involve myself with music at the level that I do has been challenging. Regardless of how it affects me, my most vulnerable thoughts and feelings are at the public’s discernment for better or for worse. Every day I pick music I hope that I am making the right decision for myself and everyone that depends on me but so far it feels like it has been working in my favor but every day is a new day. It feels like Jumanji kind of because once you start the game you literally can’t quit! It’s sometimes exhausting I want to hide and disappear but I am compelled to persistency! Music has always been there for me at my best and at my worst and I feel like I get to be there for people in those times through the music that I create and that’s why I’m gonna make music until I die!
Please tell us about your work.
I’m a pop artist/singer. I let people into my life and I write from my heart and I sing from a real place and I think it comes out in my vocals! I don’t do it if it don’t mango sense! I don’t get all dressed up to tell lies!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel like I’ve always been able to communicate with the inner playfulness that people don’t wear on their sleeves without insulting anyone’s intelligence, that’s important to me!
