Meet King Nuu

Today we’d like to introduce you to King Nuu.

King, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
For me, life as a kid was never really that hard, but as I got older, I started to move to places that weren’t so nice and peachy as where I lived when I was 14 and younger. I had never experienced a real fight or having a disagreement with someone but still being cool with them, or gang fights, guns, etc. when I was younger, but it all eventually got introduced to me when I was about 15 and older. It definitely almost brought me down the wrong path. Music definitely saved my life, along with my parents and God. This Music thing started for about when I was 15 as well I was a 9th grader in high school and If It was up to me I was just gonna go from school to home everyday, but Ma Dukes wasn’t feeling that and Forced me into to band and I really didn’t want to do it all.

I felt like band was for Nerds and when I look back on it, I really laugh that I said that because Band taught me a lot, I ended up a percussionist and I was so terrible… like beyond the worst but the urge to be good at something just kicked in and ended up finding me a group of friends and we would practice literally everyday after school and we did that constantly for a whole year and it kept me out of trouble and showed me how to work hard and how to accept tough love and by sophomore year we had all made it to snare drum and I did that all throughout high school and towards the end I found that I loved music and had matured so much but the one thing I kept avoiding is what I wanted to do in life.

I honestly knew what I wanted to do but felt it wouldn’t be accepted by my parents and also peer pressure. And so I procrastinated till I was out of high school and all my friends were going off to college and I kept lying saying I’m a go but really I wasn’t to occupy my time I picked up three jobs I worked at Moes, Ups Store and as a salesman and during this time, I meet a lot of open-minded people who told me to always do what I would enjoy doing, and music is what I enjoyed. And so I decided to pick up the pen and paper and start pursuing my dreams to make it big in this Music industry so that my future generations of my family would never have to worry about not pursuing their dreams because of what other people may think or if they don’t have the money to or if the job doesn’t pay much because I would have built a kingdom to pass down generations from now. But as of Now, I have me another team and we are gonna do the same thing till we make it to the Top.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, some of the things I face as an artist is knowing who is real around you, also before I got started on my path, I had to let go some toxic people in my life. Another obstacle was just finding my sound and get better with my craft which is still an ongoing thing to this day.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Nuu Generation is my group and it basically stems from me believing that it doesn’t matter what you do in life, as long as you do it to the best of your ability. It is something that is going to Grow and have Members all over the world who grow together and thrive with each other.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
God, definitely my parents as well, and my team Surf Club, as well as my aunties and uncles and brothers and grandma.
