Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirbi Turner.
Kirbi, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
DBDT, LLC, was started by an urge to want to do better for myself and to provide mental and behavioral services to a community that is underprivileged. Without my family, friends, colleagues, and God, I don’t believe I could have done this alone. They truly have guided and supported me throughout this journey.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
NO! I wish I could say yes, but one of my biggest struggles I have experienced is, not everyone is going to be happy. When policies are in place, and it doesn’t necessarily match what others want or feel like is best, problems arise. I’ve also struggled with the title “Owner,” when clients, other medical professionals, or dignitaries meet me, I am questioned due to my age, race and their assumption of experience.
Please tell us about DBDT – Day By Day Therapy.
Day By Day Therapy, LLC was established to help service and educate our community about Mental and Behavioral Health. DBDT, LLC is an outpatient practice that services Children & Adolescents and Adults. Our focus is to help our clients reach their highest mental stability. We offer Psychotherapy, Psychiatric Evaluations, Crisis Intervention and Medication Management. We specialize in an array of diagnoses. I believe we are best known for our customer service and “meeting others where they are”, instead of making clients conform to society’s normality. I am most proud of my team, without them, DBDT, LLC, wouldn’t be possible. Our thoroughness, customer service, civility and our ability to understand that everyone is not the same, is what sets us apart from others. When I was in grad school, I had the pleasure of mentoring with someone who commutated my entire thought process. One of the things that he taught me and has also been significant to DBDT, LLC practices, is “If I accept you as you are, I give you permission to change” – Frank White, LPC.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t believe I would have done anything differently. The trials that I have experienced has made me a better person personally and professionally. I have been blessed to receive this opportunity, and wouldn’t question what God has given me or where he has guided me.
