Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Bailey.
Kirsten, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Bailey Bloom Co was born when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. I’ve always had a love for interior decorating. So when I got pregnant with my daughter, I was so excited to begin decorating the perfect nursery. I had the perfect idea in my head of what I wanted above my daughter’s crib and around the room but couldn’t find it in her nursery colors or theme in the retail stores. This is when I saw the need for custom nursery decor that is personalized and customized to the colors and theme of any nursery. I did my research on the proper tools, wood, paints, etc. I needed to make quality wood home decor and with the help of my mother and husband, I was all set to begin woodworking in my home. Now, we’ve expanded to creating personalized wedding and home decor items because everyone loves something with their name on it!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not at all been smooth. To begin, I was in over my head with cutting wood materials in the beginning. I thought the process was going to be as easy as the YouTube videos make it, and it’s not. But after some weeks of practice and some changes in materials, it got easier. Once I got the wood cutting and design features down, the next hurdle was painting. The very first for-sale item I completed, I had to create it THREE TIMES fully! It was painful but I learned a lot about what to do and definitely what not to do at that time and kept pushing.
Tell us more about the business.
Bailey Bloom Co is a custom home decor, wedding decor, and gifts online store specializing in custom-designed and personalized wood signs and cake toppers. We are most known for our custom nursery and kid’s signs which are designed to the theme and colors of the child’s nursery. Each sign is designed, cut, and hand-painted by us in our shop in Fayetteville, GA. We are most proud of our ability to custom create a sign for any nursery and any family to fit their current decor and color scheme and this is also what sets us apart from others in the field.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
More moms and families today are thinking outside of the box when it comes to nursery and home decor and that requires custom pieces like our signs to be the finishing touch. In 5-10 years, I see the design and decor standard in all nurseries and homes to be a personalized wood sign. Custom nursery signs are a huge trend right now and ever-expanding to more and more homes around the world. We’re just getting started!
