Today we’d like to introduce you to Kishma Walker-Mullix.
Hi Kishma, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Founder’s Story & Vision
For several years, colleagues consistently encouraged me to pursue teaching and training. They often told me that I possessed the patience, leadership, and clarity needed for such a challenging responsibility. One of my closest friends even offered to invest in my CPR Instructor certification, believing strongly in my ability to build something meaningful.
Although I appreciated their confidence in me, I initially felt unprepared. In hindsight, I was more ready than I realized. A few years later, the opportunity presented itself—and I chose to step into it with intention.
From the beginning, my goal was clear: I did not want to simply prepare students to pass an exam. I wanted to prepare them for real-world healthcare. Having served as a manager in multiple healthcare organizations, I witnessed firsthand the consequences of inadequate training. I knew there was an opportunity to raise the standard.
While this is a CNA program, my vision has always extended beyond basic certification. From day one, I emphasize critical thinking. I teach my students that they are not just completing tasks—they are assessing, observing, and protecting patients. I focus on mastering the fundamentals while building confidence, competence, and clinical judgment over time. This is not just curriculum delivery; it is mentorship.
Growth & Impact
I founded the school four years ago. The first year was challenging. Like many new businesses, visibility and enrollment were limited, and there were moments of doubt. However, eight months after launching, I enrolled my first student. From that point forward, the growth has been steady and purposeful.
Today, the majority of our students enroll through word-of-mouth referrals—a testament to the strength and reputation of the program. We have developed a training model that I confidently believe is among the strongest in Georgia. Our focus on quality instruction, accountability, and professional development sets our graduates apart.
Passion & Purpose
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey is witnessing my students’ growth. I value the dialogue in the classroom—the questions, the critical thinking, and the transformation from uncertainty to confidence. When they sit for the state exam, I feel just as invested as they do. Their success is deeply personal to me.
This work is more than a profession—it is a calling. It is an opportunity to give back by equipping future healthcare professionals with the knowledge, discipline, and mindset needed to serve with excellence.
I am grateful for the opportunity to shape the next generation of caregivers and to contribute meaningfully to healthcare in Georgia. This is not simply a school; it is a standard.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. In the beginning I was trying to inform the community that we exists. Some months we only saw 1-2 students and I had to do everything to keep the doors open. The 1-2 students that showed up inspire me to keep going. I want to grow, but the instability of how many students enroll in the program monthly has limit me to be the only fulltime instructor, this limits the growth of developing more programs since my time is consume with teaching and preparation for the next lesson or the next class.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the Founder and Administrator of Triumphant Medical Institute, where we specialize in healthcare training, private home care services, and professional medical support solutions. My work focuses on empowering individuals through education while also providing compassionate, high-quality care to the community.
I specialize in building compliant, client-centered healthcare programs—from home care operations to medical training and workforce development. I am known for combining professionalism with heart. Whether I’m developing policies that meet Georgia regulatory standards, training future healthcare professionals, or serving families through home care, my goal is always excellence with integrity.
What I am most proud of is creating opportunities. Through Triumphant Medical Institute, I’ve been able to help individuals gain certifications, start healthcare careers, and receive quality care in the comfort of their homes. Seeing students grow in confidence and families feel supported is incredibly rewarding.
What sets me apart is my hands-on leadership and attention to detail. I don’t just operate a business—I build systems, ensure compliance, strengthen community relationships, and stay actively involved in day-to-day operations. I understand both the clinical and administrative sides of healthcare, which allows me to deliver services that are not only compassionate but structured, sustainable, and compliant.
Above all, my work is rooted in purpose. I believe healthcare should restore dignity, create opportunity, and truly make a difference—and that belief drives everything I do.
Any big plans?
Looking ahead, my vision is to continue expanding Triumphant Medical Institute by developing additional programs of study, including a Medical Assistant program and a Phlebotomy course. My goal is to broaden our educational offerings so that we can meet the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals while creating more opportunities for individuals seeking stable, meaningful careers in healthcare.
I’m especially excited about building not just a training center, but a full workforce pipeline. My long-term plan is to employ the very students we train—creating a seamless transition from education to employment. By doing this, we can ensure quality standards, reinforce hands-on experience, and provide graduates with immediate career opportunities.
Ultimately, I envision Triumphant Medical Institute becoming a comprehensive healthcare hub—where students are trained, mentored, and then positioned for long-term success within our organization and beyond. Expanding our programs while strengthening employment pathways is the next major step in that journey, and I am truly looking forward to making that vision a reality.
