Today we’d like to introduce you to Kory Phillips.
From weighing over 300 pounds to earning more than his weight as a celebrity personal trainer, Kory Phillips, a.k.a. “The King of Fitness” shares what it took to earn his crown. Phillips, a 35-year-old native of Shreveport, Louisiana dropped over 120 pounds and started his own gym, Lovely Bodies LLC, in 2011. Now, he owns two gyms–one in Atlanta and one in Shreveport., two Shake Sum Bars an online Café and is on the brink of opening a brand-new concept facility for YouTubers, creatives and businesses to express their crafts in private suites with video, audio and staging equipment at their fingertips.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not a smooth road at all. You can say I failed my way to the top.
The catalyst, I know was my dad’s stroke. My mom and dad are my greatest supporters.
I dropped out of college, quit my job, started training in my townhome in Shreveport back in 2011. It definitely wasn’t easy, but life is better now and I know my dreams are helping so many people all over the nation. It always amazes me when people in other countries reach out. It’s all God to thank for that.
Lovely Bodies LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the King of Fitness, need I say more?
Two words sets me apart: Before & Afters. My results speak volumes, so do those of trainers trained by me. I am the Revenge Body Expert! A Revenge Body is the slap in the face to that ex that let you go, those people who made fun of who you were before, building confidence in your abilities and how far you’ve come…to the point, you shouldn’t even recognize yourself when we’re done. Most important, we care, we relate and we treat people with respect. Our team is a family. We may have been counted out as the underdogs, but God is so good.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to afford to put my dad in a facility where he receives the best care and watching him recover.
