Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Abdus-Salaam Truitt.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, it all started off as hobby, I was into photography but wasn’t feeling the whole portrait and event shooting stuff anymore and for some reason, I just said “hey, I’m going to just shoot food” and start a food blog having clue about any of it and I still don’t to this day, lol!
I didn’t start taking it serious until last spring where I started going out to eat every single day researching the latest restaurant openings, taking photos of anything food related.
The turning point for me happened last summer when I was fasting during Ramadan ironically and that is the time when Muslims are fasting from sun up to sun down but we are always in remembrance and prayer to God so, I just continuously prayed to be self sufficient because I had just been laid off from my job at that time.
With more time available during day, I just researched and ate a lot, lol and my following started to grow. We’re currently over 3k followers now and have worked alongside 10 + restaurants and brands on. So, y’all should definitely stay tuned for more fun stuff from us as we grow!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just beating self doubt.
Atlanta FoodGuy – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Well we are bloggers/influencers, our aim is to create content that people can laugh and smile at while saying, “Hey, I’m about to check this place out”, because AFG says it’s hot like fire! We’re known for posting some of the biggest and baddest burgers and sandwiches we find in ATL.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Haha really! Being apart of this interview and you all outing on a list with some heavyweights in the foodie game in Atlanta! Major shoutout!
