Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Hallom.
Kristen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a passionate, faith-driven actress working and living in Atlanta, GA.
If I were to describe myself with one word, it would be determined. I’ve navigated through modest beginnings in my native city of Memphis, TN, to attaining a Management degree as a first-generation college graduate, to now elevating through the ranks of a corporate sales profession while pursuing my career as an actress. My mission is to be a vessel, push past unpredictable boundaries and thrive. Leaving for college at the University of TN was the first time I’d left home. Unaware of the challenges ahead, I harnessed the strength, resilience, tenacity and most importantly unwavering faith of the brilliant women who raised me to excel academically and foster impactful relationships. Those dynamic acquaintances led to the opportunity of being displayed on both print brochures and flyers for the University of Tennessee, as well as the University’s website to promote diversity. It wasn’t until relocating to Atlanta, which was initially to continue to grow in corporate America, that an opportunity was presented for a commercial that aired on both Fox Sports South and in the Atlanta Hawks stadium. Talk about eye-opening! Through those experiences, I discovered my love for being in front of the screen and I have been actively pursuing acting since. To bring everything full circle, growing up, I aspired to be on Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel, but I can truly say, that the journey and some of the lessons from a professional career have been extremely applicable in my acting career. I have thoroughly enjoyed the city life that Atlanta has offered me.
My decision to become an actress has been one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. I began training at the Robert Mello Studio under Candace Mabry, what a great start to my career, Alliance Theatre and Dad’s Garage and have since trained with instructors such as Nevaina, Dwayne Boyd, Eric Arvold, Richard Warner, Carl Kennedy, and Thom Scott II. I accepted the path of acting in order to be a change agent. My passion for acting stems from a desire to change lives by storytelling. “I have made the decision to live with purpose. With this decision, I believe I’m destined to be a beacon of light and a vessel to bring love, hope, and passion into this world by taking a selfless approach to change.” -Kristen Hallom Whether performing in drama or comedy, on stage or screen, being open and vulnerable in my roles continues to build a strong influence that tells a story in every opportunity that I’m given. Through my acting, I want to represent the light of God, Strength, Vulnerability, Sincerity, Honesty, Trustworthiness, Loyalty, Beauty, Intelligence, and Faith.
My strengths are also displayed in areas of leadership development, analytical thinking, and goal-directed leadership with the heart of serving the community. I have had the opportunity to serve on the board for the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce, as well as serve with Meals on Wheels Atlanta, I think it is extremely important to give back. Remembering where you come from and the people that helped you along the way is extremely important in this journey, and my hope is that I will continue to be a light.
Beyond the time on set and my sales career endeavors, I enjoy fitness, spending time with my family, kickboxing, and being out in nature.
Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? No, but would I change any part of it, absolutely not. With pursuing acting, one of the areas that I find myself constantly renewing is my faith. My faith and trust that at the beginning and end of the day, that God’s will, will prevail and trusting the journey and process along the way. There were times early on when I would look to the left and right of me in comparison of others, and I’ve learned that comparison does absolutely nothing for me, because everyone’s journey is different. Changing this comparison mentality to being able to learn from and celebrate others success that I know personally and have encountered, has made this journey that much more valuable. Being patient in this journey can also be a challenge, but what I’ve learned is that it’s absolutely worth the process. Taking the necessary steps to invest in yourself and career are important to establishing a solid foundation. There are many ways to be successful, and for me, redefining success and shifting my mindset to a continuous, purpose/destiny driven and faith-based mentality has been the most impactful. Man, I’m so grateful for the journey. Trust the process. Be Confident. Have high esteem.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Professional Actress. I specialize in Film, TV, and Commercial. I am currently working to continue to grow my portfolio and build my brand with actively working on Independent film productions as well as writing my own content. I’ve recently begun writing to bring awareness to mental health. Thank you, God, and to everyone who continues to encourage me to create content and be intentional with the message and story that I will share. I’ve felt so empowered in being able to see the storyline being formulated, and I am super excited to be able to share this with the world. What sets me apart from others is absolutely my story. My life is purpose-filled, which consists of being both a vessel and a light of God. The obstacles that I’ve overcome with unintentionally recognizing that I was consistently being “the first” at many of the hills and valleys in my life, have proven to me, that if you can think it and dream it, you can absolutely be and do it. I am a living witness, and I will continue to be a representation of that as my journey continues.
