Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Davis.
Kristin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up playing sports and have always been an athletic person. In college, I started going to school for kinesiology, but chemistry and I just didn’t get along so I changed my major to business marketing. I got my training certification over seven years ago and just started training on the side. Helping others reach and set goals for themselves has always been something I’ve loved to do. I moved to Atlanta four years ago and wanted to open a gym, but as everyone knows there are gyms and trainers all over the Atlanta market. So I started thinking what can I do to differentiate myself from all the trainers here in the Atlanta area. I went to Louisiana for the weekend and a friend of mine had just received her massage license, I was sore from my workouts and wanted to try her out.
During my massage, all I could think about was it felt like I was using the foam roller and it just clicked like this is what I need to do to differentiate myself from the other trainers. I flew back to Atlanta that evening and started looking into different massage schools and all the information I needed to submit. Found Atlanta School Of Massage and applied that night, I received a call the next day and we got the ball rolling for me to start in August.
At this point, I am excited everything is going in the right direction I had put my two weeks in at my corporate company and was on my way out. I received another call from the school and they said they had made a mistake and there weren’t anymore spots for August enrollment. My mouth dropped like ugh I just put my two weeks in what am I going to do how am I going to tell my parents this I was freaking out. Three hours later I get another call from the school saying disregard the last call I was in and could start in August. Thank god now I know this is meant to be!
Eight months later I graduated from Atlanta School of Massage with a 4.0 GPA. Now it was time to start studying for the state test for massage therapy. It took three tries for me to pass the test, one of the hardest things but I got it done.
After receiving all the paperwork and getting my LLC for my company I started Endurance & Recovery. Where I can train my clients and recover them. Recovery is just as important as working out. If our bodies can’t function properly we won’t be able to workout the way we want.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, it hasn’t been the easiest road and there are always road bumps especially being an entrepreneur.
-finding clients/keeping clients
-finding the right space to work
-trusting the clients and if their intentions are genuine
Please tell us about your business.
I am a personal trainer and massage therapist. I travel to my clients for massage therapy and have a location they can come to for personal training. I am most proud that I put my mind to something and I am making it happen. What sets me apart from other trainers I can train my clients and recover them.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My passion for what I do. I love helping others and listening to their stories and helping them add to their life stories. I am a very punctual person and I value my clients time as well as mine. I set goals for myself to live as well as help my clients set goals for themselves that they can achieve.
