Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Barrett.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It was always easy for me, to be honest, about my struggles and how I got where I am. I became a survivor of sexual abuse at the young age of eight. As a teenager, I tried to escape my trauma and insecurity by living a reckless, party girl lifestyle. I was at parties every weekend, smoking, drinking, having sex, and being reckless with my body before I even got my license. Many people judged me for it, even I did for a long time, but at the time, I didn’t know how else to deal with the fear and trauma I had from my early abuse. I gave my body away to boys and men because after being in an abusive relationship and raped at a party while I was blackout drunk, I didn’t feel like my “no” meant anything. The power to say no was stripped away each time it was ignored. I had convinced myself that I’d rather be a “whore” than a victim. That mindset took a toll on me for years and even to this day, I fight for my “no’s”.
Now, what does that have to do with me becoming a coach? I spent years learning how to fight for myself, love myself, care for myself. That came out in my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I know what it feels like to feel helpless, worthless, stuck, depressed, and fearful. Those feelings have been applied to me in building healthy relationships, learning to nurture and take care of my body through exercise, positive words and thoughts and how I treat my body. I have had to overcome feeling unworthy to even get a promotion at work or negative self talk when I wanted to start coaching people. In college, I met so many women, too many, who have felt exactly how I have felt, but I was able to use my testimony to support them, love them and show them they aren’t alone.
I have always had a helping, nurturing spirit. I would always prioritize others and be empathetic to their needs and insecurities. My life has taught me not to judge but to lift up others and that is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I feel that is my purpose. To lift up others and help them heal and find stability, confidence, and a healthy lifestyle, inside and out, which is what started my own journey. My Healing Journey. Through my journey, I have gained experience and tools that have helped me through so much. I have been blessed to be able to relate and apply those tools to others to help them build themselves up and find the power within themselves.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I am on my own journey while I support others. It started with just focusing on my physical health and going to therapy. I shared a lot about my physical health and even started strictly with health and fitness coaching, but that wasn’t enough. I knew that my healing journey was about more than just getting physically fit and eating more vegetables. It was a journey to truly healing the trauma, insecurity, and self hate I had formed for myself. I think physical health is an amazing start to healing. It teaches you to care for yourself and be patient with yourself, challenge your strength and ability. All these things go deeper and can be applied to prioritizing yourself in your day, taking time to deal with your emotions, work out your stress, and realizing that a lot of that negative self-talk isn’t just about not liking what you see in the mirror. It’s deeper and we have to get to those parts of us in order to truly heal. It’s always going to be a struggle breaking those barriers and continuing that journey, but having someone to support you, encourage you, and be in the trenches with you can be life-changing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Healing Joruney – what should we know?

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am thankful to have an amazing support system. It hasn’t always been that way and I know how vital it has been for me to have people who push me and have helped me in my own journey. My boyfriend, Adrian has been my biggest supporter, cheerleader, and teammate in everything I do and I wouldn’t be where I am in life, let alone this business without him. Of course, I also have my health and fitness coach, Alaina Hamade. She brought me in on the health and fitness side through Beachbody coaching and though I am currently coaching independently, she continues to be a huge supporter and inspiration in my journey. I also have to give credit to one of my clients, Danni Mills. She is such a light. I have absolutely adored working with her and seeing her grow to every challenge and be so honest with herself. It’s beautiful to be apart of these women’s journeys and be their hype woman. She is also who referred me for this interview, so thanks Danni!
