Meet Kristina Vancea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Vancea.

Kristina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey began when I got married. I wanted to learn how to do makeup for my wedding and started watching YouTube videos. This was right around the time YouTube Tutorials were just becoming popular. Once I started, I was in love with the art of makeup and beauty all around. Then, once my son, Jax, was born six years ago, I started to get more creative and wanted to create a YouTube Channel of my own. My passion just started to flourish and I wanted to share it!

I was getting good feedback of my Channel from friends and subscribers and an old friend from high school was about to get married. She told me the moment she was asked to marry her boyfriend, she knew she wanted me to do her makeup because of how much she loved my “makeup style” and how I did it. I honestly was shocked because I couldn’t believe someone would actually trust ME to do their makeup on such an important day..not only that, but I had never done anyone else’s makeup but my own.

I told my husband what was going on and that I was having her come over the next weekend for a trial. My husband, being the amazing man he is, knew how nervous I was and offered to let me practice on him to get a feel for it, but 5 minutes in, it was just too weird lol I still love him and thank him for that to this day.

Long story short, she loved my work and she looked amazing at her wedding! After that, I started posting more pictures of makeup on myself and the makeup I did for her on her trial date and wedding day. I got very positive feedback. So much so, I started to get busy with makeup bookings, ranging from my friends going to events, to strangers who saw my work on my Instagram or Facebook Page or heard of me from word of mouth.

A couple of years later, I was referred to someone I call a dear friend of mine, that introduced me to doing makeup for TV. That experience was amazing and my career blew up after that.

My career has slowed down in the last few months because I just had my daughter; second child, Mila, April 2, 2020. Once she grows up some and COVID 19 is over, I plan to be back and better than ever!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It honestly hasn’t been too bumpy of a road. Yes, there are a lot of other makeup artists in Atlanta, but I feel as if I constantly was working on my craft and making my skills better and people who booked me knew that.

Only struggle I suppose would be once I moved, I didn’t have an individual room to make my YouTube Videos and I stopped doing those.

I would like to start doing them again if I can. I think my career could’ve been so much bigger if I never stopped.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a Makeup Artist and All Natural Beauty Consultant. I specialize in Glam Makeup for special events, weddings and date nights. I also sell naturally based products that are customizable to each client. I am most proud of my integrity as an artist and 1000% make the customer happy with what it is they want!

I think not only my work sets me apart from other artists, but my personality, I am a fun, loving, caring, energetic woman and I make my clients feel the most beautiful they have ever felt. To see the smiles on their faces once I am done is truly a blessing and that’s why I love what I do!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think as far as luck goes, my reputation as an artist has helped me grow. My clients and friends referring me is what truly helped me flourish and become well known with makeup here in Atlanta.
