Kurstyn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I originally started making treats for my friends, family, and myself. Then, one day, someone asked me “Why don’t you start selling these for events? They look so good!” And I never really considered it. So, I went out on a limb and decided to place an ad on social media for Valentines Day and the reaction was absolutely stunning. After I had my son, I developed the name Grey Sweets (his name is Greyson). I realized I had a talent that I truly enjoyed doing and I adored the feeling I gave people once they started receiving my treats and just went on from there. I perfected my branding and packaging and listened to my consumers. 1 baby and a whole year later, I’ve created a flourishing sweet treats business and it’s constantly growing. I went from serving my friends and family to now catering to weddings and baby showers!
Has it been a smooth road?
Not even slightly, lol. I struggled mostly with my own self-confidence. When you’re starting something new, there’s always the fear of failure. Especially when there are several people doing the one thing you are doing. So, a huge struggle was trying to figure out something that would make me stand out in a crowd all while making a profit. And my other huge struggle was time management. For a while, I became overwhelmed with being a new mom and full-time student and trying to keep up with the demand. But after some tweaking and LOTSSSSSSSSSS of prayer, I managed to get it together.

Grey Sweets was born in Columbus, GA in 2018. I specialize in sweet, dipped fruits and decorated treats. I cater large (and small) events such as weddings, birthday parties, and baby showers just to name a few. I’d like to think that my presentation and purpose sets me apart from others. I take special care in packaging and the fine details so that I know for a fact the product going out is absolute perfection. I’m most proud of the growth of this company. I never would have seen my hobby as an actual business opportunity out here having such an impact o people’s lives. It’s that drive that keeps me going every day.
