Meet Kyzmen Wood of Kash Clothing in Greater Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyzmen Wood.

Kyzmen, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m from Phenix City, AL. I began Kash as more of a side hustle. Growing up my family was full of natural-born hustlers. My mom is an ambitious entrepreneur, and early on my dad instilled principles around ensuring I always led my own life. Fast forward to years leading into the initial start of Kash, I wanted to start something I could grow and nurture. In March of 2019, after a year-long battle, I attained the trademark for my logo and that’s when I began taking my company seriously. Over the past twelve months, it has grown so much faster than anticipated and the releases just keep getting better and better. I’ve been working behind the scenes so much on so many pieces that never even release because it’s just that much material I design for each collection. A lot of people don’t even know 100% of the designs you see from the brand are strictly from me and 90% of the content posted is either fully by me or with the help of some of the other amazing creatives I’ve encountered. Right now, we’re just growing day by day, learning from our base reaction to new collections and just living life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing has been smooth about this road, at all. Anybody who knows me knows I plan future plans years prior and nothing about having Kash has gone to plan. I never anticipated the litigation of attaining my trademark taking so long, and right after I started working with a new production unit and it was a lot of misunderstandings and a lot of losses. It’s been such a learning experience about this industry in the past year. But, I wouldn’t trade any of what I’ve been through.

Kash Clothing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kash Clothing is a streetwear brand based on Keeping A Steady Hustle. When creating it, I just wanted to provide affordable, comfortable, dope clothing. Over the past year, it’s been growing into what I had envisioned for it years ago, which is to provide something that doesn’t necessarily look like anything else out. Each season is very different from the last, we pride ourselves on elevating every day and the designs are proof of that. I’m very particular in how I design pieces ask my production units, Nya or even ask Jose, any small changes I’m aware of and things that don’t bother most bother me and I’ll switch it around the next release. I love comfortable pieces. If I personally can’t wear it more than once or feel comfortable in it, it’s not released.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is me attaining what I want out of life. Success is me being in a position to take care of my mom and put my family on. If I’m a multi-millionaire but my family is struggling to make ends meet, I haven’t become successful yet. My life story is bigger than just me.
