Today we’d like to introduce you to L.J. OnTheBill.
L.J., can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Music got into me before I got into it. As an infant, I was fascinated by the sounds & the atmosphere that was set, coming from the speakers. When I got old enough to, I began rapping & singing which then turned into creating music from sounds of any object that I could find. I began to fall in love with all the moving parts that played a role in creating memories (a full production of any art). From the door man/ushers at a concert hall to the sound man, I wanted to do it all. So I did…
Simply put, my purpose is to give people that PERSONAL TOUCH (which is also a dope ass book by the amazing Ms Terrie Williams, def read that book & look her up). I could have been a car salesman, a shoe repairman, or even a lawyer, my purpose would still be the same. But as of 2020, the ministry of music & entertainment is my backyard. Currently, I specialize in operating many moving parts, for the gain of a greater goal. Goals that are bigger than me, things that I could not even think of or even have the mind/heart to pray for. I’m most proud of the little things that have left HUGE impacts on the patrons, businesses & other artist/creatives that I have crossed paths with. We are all ONE. So really, we’re just playing our part. I happen to be the quarterback in what I do, but that other athlete, on that other field, has a skill just like I do… I just go HARDER!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There hasn’t been an ounce of smooth that I can remember. LoL This road has not been smooth. It’s been rocky with multiple chances of rain & thunderstorms, to say the least (In my weatherman voice). But, it’s not supposed to be smooth. This is called a journey for a reason. I never expected it to be smooth. I never expected to NOT be misunderstood. I never expected to NOT lose friends. I never expected to NOT be homeless (TWICE). Going after my dream has been extremely challenging & it’s placed me in all types of circumstances. We are literally chasing down & trying to bring something to life, that no one else can see, but us. It’s supposed to be rough. But we only get one life to live & there are no mistakes going down this path. It builds character, it changes lives & ultimately it leaves an impact that will live far longer than we physically can. It shapes the world we live in & how our children’s children will live. AND THATS THE GOAL!

There is nothing new under the sun. It’s not about what you do, but how it’s been done. My business, your business, his business, her business; It’s all business. They are all businesses. It’s not really about my business. LJ OTB is nothing more than just a vessel. I don’t own my talents, God does. As a Musical Director & Producer, I am able to produce amazing music; and provide the most captivating musical Dj sets at concerts, on the radio & at venues. It is my vision to create events that inspire, uplift & relate. My experiences have taught me how to cultivate connections with artists, influencers & amazing souls from all over the world. Now what I can tell you about, which is unique, is my purpose. See, my purpose is unlike anything else from anywhere else. My purpose has been specifically & intentionally designed by God. If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
In a perfect world (which does not exist), I would have attempted to do many things differently… But understand something; my name was Lj OnTheBill longgggggg before my great-great grandparents were even here… And what I mean by that is; all that I have experienced was supposed to happen, how it happened & when it happened… So I could think that I might be able to do things differently, but this is my story so far. It was specifically & intentionally designed for me… So to truly & technically answer this questions; I WOULD NOT HAVE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY!!! I’m so appreciative & grateful for EVERYTHING that has happened, is happening, will happen & the LESSONS LEARNED. BooM!! Praise God!! LoL
