Meet LaFaye of Prodigious Designs in South

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaFaye.

LaFaye, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Learning that I could sing by watching the Disney movie, Mulan, I learned then that music was something important to me. Growing up as the child of a pastor, I was heavily involved in the church, the choir & the community. In school, I was involved in chorus & show choir. After graduating high school, I joined the US Army where my job was a mechanic & in 2015, I reclassed as a vocalist. As a vocalist in the US ARMY, I got to travel the country & perform for soldiers & their families everywhere. I was apart of a rock & roll band called Audie Murphy Mixtape (named after one of the Army’s most decorated combat soldiers) which is where I gained my love for rock-n-roll. Knowing that my voice was a comfort to soldiers & families that either lost a family member in combat or used to get the party started at a military ball, it gave me purpose & a totally different outlook on life knowing that I could brighten someone’s day with my voice.

After being honorably discharged from the US ARMY in 2017. I started to branch out more in the city of Savannah in search of places that offered live entertainment. I then met some really great locals & performers throughout the city that helped me to get in the mix of the music scene. In 2018, I realized that I could bring something different to the city, so I decided to start a self-named band.

My main goal as an artist is to make the genre rock-soul relevant & to give my audience that “awe” feeling not just from my voice but from the passion & high energy in my performances as well & to also show what it means to be a true performer. My roots are funk, soul & R&B but with my new-found love for rock-n-roll, I want to incorporate them all & create, relatable, feel good, passionate music.

Although I have the Army & the city of Savannah to thank for my start with my band & live music, I have my hometown, Atlanta, to thank for the things that I’ve learned so far when it comes to the industry & what it takes to make it. My city birthed some great musicians & artists, so it’s only right that I bring my seat to the table, grind hard & show the world what LaFaye has to offer.

Please tell us about Prodigious Designs.
Aside from being an artist & performer, I also am the co-owner of an event planning & interior design company called, Prodigious Designs. We specialize in bringing dreams to reality & making the unrealistic come to life. We plan & coordinate weddings, social & corporate events & we provide interior décor for homes, corporations, air BNBs, hotels & much more.

What I’m most proud of as a company is the fact that we are small in size but were big in quality. We go the extra mile to make sure that each client and new customer that we make feels like nothing less than our family. What sets us apart is our name alone. It speaks volume & we do what we can to provide extraordinary designs & matchless décor. Most companies create a name to draw attention, our company not only lives up to its name but we also go the extra ten miles to make sure that your needs are more than met!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is being involved in so many different things throughout school, church & the community, such as putting on concerts, plays & events in the city that brought people together. These things all allowed to never meet a stranger & taught me what a leader was early on. Being able to be involved in so much really opened my eyes & allowed me to find my passion in life at an early age & that is performing & being able to help those in need. I’m looking forward to what’s to come both of my music career and of my company!

I’m very impressed! From the the comment you left on Facebook and now to read this article. I am very excited to see what you have to bring to the table musically in Savannah, and I can’t wait to work with you and your band!
